Description

These are not dehydrated peas. They are crispy rice based snacks, colored green, allegedly with dried green pea in there somewhere. They are tasty enough, but what makes them worthy of attention is that they are adorable. The look like plump little cartoon pea pods. Very anime, ne.

FUGETSU-DO Wagashi 12 Pcs

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Wagashi literally means "Japanese sweet"! This assortment is from a middle-of-the-road maker of such snacks. The snacks are made from white or azuki bean paste mixed with sugar syrup. Protein + sugar= those athletes amongst you could use these as energy snacks! The one in the bottom right corner is my favorite, made to resemble a sweet potato, and vaguely tasting like one!

Glico - Men's Dark Chocolate Pocky

First to recommend

8 people recommended this item

Description

There is this belief in Japan that men like less sweet things while women like sweet/creamy/fruity things. Thus, this dark chocolate covered Pocky is labeled Men's. A snack and a chance to ponder on gender stereotypes in another culture at the same time - a lot of entertainment in one little chocolate cookie stick!

Morinaga - Ramune Soda Fizzy Candy

First to recommend

Description

A tiny plastic bottle meant to look like an old-fashioned ramune (lemonade) bottle holds lemon flavored melt-in-your-mouth sugar candies. Cute and nostalgic. Pour the whole contents directly into your mouth for that instant sugar high!

Baby Star - Crispy Noodle Snack (Chow Mein Flavor)

First to recommend

Description

Crispy, flavored, broken up ramen noodles for your crunching pleasure. Addictive! I guess you could also break up your own ramen noodles, but where's the fun in that?

Description

Really fruity gummy candies. Japanese candy companies really seem to know how to make artificial fruit flavors! Embrace the sugar demon within you! Dental insurance not included.

Japanese Instant Yakosoba Noodles - Ippei-chan

First to recommend

Description

Better than your cup-a-noodles by miles! Open up the packet of dehydrated veg on the noodles, pour boiling water into the box, close lid, wait 3 minutes, pour our water and voila! Comes with tiny packs of mustard and mayonnaise. Mayo on noodles? Yes, that's so Japanese!

Kasugai - Jiwa Jiwa Fizzling Soda Candy

First to recommend

Description

The flavor is ok, but it's that fizzy-bubbling sensation in your mouth that gets you going! Jiwa jiwa means like a slow creeping/bubbling feeling. Fizzle!

Wasabi Rice Cracker Mix

First to recommend

Description

Not as nasal-passage clearing as the Wasabi peas but still plenty spicy enough. The peanuts help to calm the whole thing down a bit. Very addictive!
