Ports 1961 Heartbeat Kanga for Keep a Child Alive
First to recommend
Description
I've been anxiously anticipating the release of Ports 1961's Heartbeat Kanga for Keep a Child Alive and it is finally available! Then I realized I knew nothing about a Kanga, so I turned to Wikipedia:
khanga, meaning "guinea hen" in Swahili, for its brilliant colors) is a colourful garment similar to kitenge, worn by women and occasionally by men throughout Eastern Africa. It is a piece of printed cotton fabric, about 1,5m by 1m, often with a border along all four sides (called pindo in Swahili, the East African lingua franca), and a central part (mji) which differs in design from the borders. Kangas are usually very colorful.
This kanga may not be colorful, but it is beautiful and powerful. The charity helps African children survive AIDS - from preventive measures to medical treatment and care for orphans, each purchase will help save a child.
