Thomas Paul has such a knack for color with regards to everything…pillows, rugs and now lighting! When I first saw his pillows I had over a handful of favorites to don my sofa. Then I saw his rugs and imagined covering all of my floor space with pieces. If that was the case no hardwood would be seen! Now I imagine moving upwards and illuminating my ceilings and tables with his lighting collection. From my top ten list of lighting favorites I think one of my chief picks is the Louis II Floor Lamp, or maybe I might prefer the Gus Table Lamp, actually the Wide Drum Pendant is awesome, and then of course I can’t leave out the Ting Table Lamp. Ok, so again I can’t make up my mind. (via Design Public)

Cavern Home Navajo Wallpaper

The Cavern Home Navajo Wallpaper makes me want to share a story: This past weekend I was home in the 100 degree dry Colorado heat and all I could think about was the longing for rain. The solution: teach your 2.5 year old niece how to do a makeshift rain dance. We danced our hearts out then ran outside. It took a few minutes but lo and behold it started to rain huge refreshing drops. We spent the next hour running around in the rain getting absolutely drenched. Now that I see the Cavern Home Navajo Wallpaper I feel inclined to buy a roll and make it into some fun wall art to commemorate our rain creating experience. (via Design Public)

I think the Twinkle Living Night Fox Rug might be on to something. We all know that there is a major bird imagery trend that has just about exhausted itself…so why not move on to foxes? Perhaps it is just Wenlan Chia’s Night Fox Rug that I particularly enjoy, but I think I can foresee fox imagery sweeping the nation as the next big “it animal.” Foxes are stealthy, they are clever, they are protective…and…(I just learned this today) a fox’s hearing is so sharp they can hear a watch ticking from 40 yards away. Ok, so foxes may not take the design world by storm, but I think they will soon make a bit of a come back. You’ll see. (via Design Public)

Upper playground’s Tofu Gamer Pillow is without question a historical marker for gamer aficionados everywhere. Remember one of Nintendo’s first controllers? I recently read (correct me if I am wrong) that this controller was perhaps the first to feature the configuration of “hold with two hands and control with your thumbs” design which is still standard today. What a defining moment in the history of gaming! And now, the evolution of the gamer control is forever documented on an upper playground pillow. (via Design Public)

I just about hit the ceiling in excitement (see adjacent photo) when I saw the new Marcel Wanders wallpapers from Graham & Brown. Marcel’s pieces are remarkably bold and rich, creating a wall that is no longer just a wall but a showcase for design. I can’t even begin to fathom how dramatically different my place would be if I had his extraordinary pieces on the walls of my apartment. I’d probably be glued to the walls in love.
