upper playground, dora drimalas, pint glasses, modern, art

First to recommend

Description

Upper playground is bringing the nostalgic kid out of me (plus a major “adult-ish twist”) with their pint glass collection. Remember the days when McDonald’s (yeah, I said McDonald’s) had their glassware collection? As a kid it was my goal to get every piece to their set. Now that I see upper playground’s pint glass collection I again have the fervor to acquire the entire set. Their pieces have a fun, modern edge to them and come from such amazing artists. Move over Grimace and Hamburglar…make way for SuperFishal Big Skull and Dora Drimalas’s Oma! (via Design Public)

Lotta Jansdotter Udden Medium Cushion - Aqua

First to recommend

Description

I was thinking the other day that if I had the option of being someone else it wouldn’t be Madonna, or Oprah, or Annie Oakley…no, I think I would love to step into the shoes of Lotta Jansdotter. Lotta has become such a source of inspiration for hundreds of thousands of design and craft oriented folks through her personal accessories, home accessories and how-to books. And her pieces couldn’t be any cleaner or more natural. Yup, hands down, Lotta Jansdotter would be my pick. (via Design Public)

Fauna Balsa Wall Hangings - Stallion

First to recommend

Description

Yeehaw! Ross Menuez of Fauna and I must have consumed the same draft of air because his Stallion Balsa Wall Hanging completely complements my strong appreciation for western symbolism. Yes, I live in Oakland, and yes I work in SF for Design Public, but I also have a serious western fixation/love for ranch living (with a modern twist). (via Design Public)

Harry Allen My Brothers Mirror

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Some brothers just have piles of laundry or old crackers lying around their apartments. Harry Allen's brother it seems is quite the opposite. He must have lots of cool stuff. Which in turn, Harry borrows, casts, and makes it possible for each of us to have our own. We wonder if he gives the treasures back? (via design public)

"Offer" Wall-Mounted Hand Hook

3 people recommended this item

Description

Harry Allen has taken his “Reality Series” to an entirely new level with the frosted version of his acrylic casted hand. Next in the series will be replicas of his veins and bones in the coat hooks and incense holders. Just kidding…I don’t think it will go that far. (via design public)

k studio Remote Control Pocket Pillow - White

First to recommend

Description

I’ll admit to being a TV watcher, and I’ll proudly admit to loving/needing the kstudio Remote Control Pocket Pillow. I actually see some longevity in Shelly Klein’s Remote Control Pocket Pillow because 1.) It is a quirky yet practical accessory for my sofa and TV watching practices, and 2.) I hypothesize that several years from now it will be a historic recollection to the days when people actually used remote controls (I foresee technology advancing to a touchless or voice activated remote in the future…maybe even a blink based approach to channel surfing). Graham & Brown Paintables Squares

First to recommend

Description

Oh lordy, Graham and Brown have sparked a major hankering with their new Paintables wallpapers. You may have seen my space which I entered in the Apartment Therapy’s Cool Small contest (not cool enough to win, unfortunately). The place is has a ton of character, but it needs a little something extra on the super white walls. The answer has come to me, thank you very much, Graham and Brown…texture! Without a doubt I am a corduory person, but I may need even more spice than that…how about the small squares or jazz? (via Design Public)

THOUT UtiliTILE: Forked Up

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

Thout’s UtiliTILE: Forked Up piece genuinely taps into my inner modern lumberjack self. I have always been curious as to how my hand would do at knife throwing competition and wouldn’t you know it I have craved log rolling ever since I was a little girl. Which would be more practical…attempt to enter the Lumberjack World Competitions or settle for Thout’s modern take? I’m thinking stick with Thout. (via design public)

Innermost 5 in 1 Shade

First to recommend

Description

Lighting as a statement piece is all the rage, and Innermosts Ghost Collection takes top honors in the statement department. Their Ghost Collection plays tricks with my brain because I see their pieces in two very different ways: 1.) In one sense, the forms of their shades remind me of the mysterious and unknown creatures floating around in the deep dark depth of the sea. Those of us above water rarely get to glimpse their odd yet practical shapes. 2.) In another sense, their pieces are the quintessential portrayal of glam, minimalism, and style. I go back and forth with which idea I like more…elegant and sophisticated or mysterious and sea creature-esque. (via Design Public)

Duffy London Crystal Chandelier on Grey Wall Light

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

I have never been much of a chandelier person until fairly recently when I decided that maybe a simple chandelier was just what my apartment needed to give it a little extra flare. Then DuffyLondon Canvas Lightboxes came around and my visions were solidified into a hip reality (but, I still have to purchase one). Before the DuffyLondon “enlightenment” I was dragging my heels on the hunt for chandeliers. I saw a few online and in a store that were just too gaudy for my taste and small apartment. Imagine how embarrassing would it be to have guests hit their heads on your oversized chandelier?! The solution in so many ways: a DuffyLondon Print Wall Light. (via designpublic)
