ikea has a knack of coming up with stuff you never knew you needed. like this pet food storage bag. made tough with a zippered lid so you can easily scoop out the chow. at only $3.99, i can think of lots of uses for it besides pet food, ie stuff for recycling, without it becoming an uncomingly pile.

i must say that i did not fall for this on first sight. though is was supposedly an arty designer piece. but it's one of those slow burners. after passing it by in ikea a few times, i began to appreciate the patterns and started imaginig how great it would look on my side table, in a cluster of 3 of varying sizes.

kinda like nesting dolls without the nest. what caught my eye are the colors and costumes, though i think they can do better with the expressions - they look too similar to one other. but it is still a nice decor to add a spot of color to a kitchen window sill or open shelves.

the starburst does it for me. love the cheerful design. and i can imagine how pretty it is with photos. or even as a "to do memo holder". write "things to do" in colorful note cards and pick them off as you finish your task.
