PeaceKeeper All Natural Mineral Lip Paint Lipstick
First to recommend
Description
I haven't worn lip color in a long time, but this product makes me want to try again. This is truly a natural lip color, made of ingredients like beeswax, shea butter, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil and vitamin E. This is truly a cosmetic that you don't have to question its safety.
It is rated 1 out of 10 on the Skin Deep Database. If you haven't checked out the Skin Deep website, you are missing out on a lot of info. It's in my skin care recommendations. (via Ideal Bite)

Acquarella Water Based Nail Polish
First to recommend
Description
This nail polish is a bit pricey ($18), but worth it, considering how toxic regular nail polish is. There are very few healthy alternatives for polish, so it's at least worth a try. The remover is $6 and needed, since this formula is nothing like regular polish - no formaldehyde or phthalates. It is water-based and non-toxic (which means less drying to the nail).
There are reviews on the website so an educated decision can be made.
The remover is also water-based - no acetone or other terrible ingredients. Chemicals found in traditional polishes/remover can cause irritation, headaches, dermatitis, skin rashes, asthma, and hormone disruption. In addition, wastewater plants cannot always remove phthalates, which means the chemicals end up in our waterways and build up in fish and shellfish. ARM & HAMMER Essentials Natural Deodorant
First to recommend
Description
Simply, at your local store. Why spend so much for a name - not quite eco-friendly. I have not had luck with natural deodorants, so I will try my luck with this one. It does NOT contain ALUMINUM, parabens, colorants or animal-derived ingredients.
I've been using this for about a year now and it does do the trick. No smells, no sweating. I can't find it at every store, buy I know which ones carry it now and stock up! Can't ask for more!

LUSH -- Hair Care Products: Squeaky Green Solid Shampoo, SLS free
First to recommend
Description
For some reason, it is so hard for me to "go green" on hair products. My hair is fine and thin and is very tempermental. However, after seeing these solid shampoos - this will be my next purchase. There are many, many flavors, so check this out. Very honest reviews are posted with each flavor. In addition, ALL ingredients are listed - for those fans of Skin Deep.
This one contains nettle, rosemary and tea tree oil.
Most of their products are now sodium lauryl sulphate - free.
Best of all - NO PLASTIC BOTTLES!

Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Database

2 people recommended this item
Description
The website is really a pioneer in cosmetic safety. I've been using it for well over a year. We all assume what we put on our skin is safe, but there is no oversight for safety. What this website does is arm the consumer with information so they can make an informed decision. Ingredients are listed for each product (not all brands are included because there are so many) and the safety for each ingredient is evaluated. The product is given an overall number, with higher numbers being more toxic or unsafe.
For those that want to watch what we put INTO our bodies, why would we not watch what we put ON our bodies? These chemicals do not stay sitting nicely on top of our skin, eyelashes, or hair ---they are absorbed into our bodies.

Don’t Bug Me! Patch
3 people recommended this item
Description
Cool new product. Sick of ticks? I'm so over the summer bugs thing. This patch sticks directly to your skin to provide 36 hours of all-natural bug repellent. The patch was designed to release Vitamin B1 into your bloodstream, which repels mosquitos, gnats, ticks, chiggers even! (I hate chiggers!)
The plus... It's deet-free, contains all natural ingredients, waterproof, lasts 36 hours, and does not come in a plastic or can, which means more space in your travel bag and less waste to our environment.
