Christmas Time Again: Lynyrd Skynyrd

First to recommend

Description

from Amazon:
"It's a long way from Jacksonville, Florida, to the North Pole, but first generation Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd put antifreeze in the old touring van and set a course for Santa's workshop with this seasonal outing. The band, which now consists of three founders and a handful of later recruits, mix Yule warhorses ("Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Greensleeves") and more recent fare ("Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin'," "Run Run Rudolph," Eddie C. Campbell's customized-for-Christmas take on "Messin' with the Kid") with a smattering of originals. Guests Charlie Daniels and .38 Special check in with one song apiece, giving the whole project a kind of TV variety-show feel--that is, if you can picture a bearded Perry Como with a stack of Marshall amps at his back"

Wild-Eyed Christmas Night: 38 Special

First to recommend

Description

** You can get this Overnighted for $3.99 or Two-Day Shipped (free) with Amazon Prime**

from Amazon:
"If the goal at your Christmas party is to get people up and moving on the dance floor, this album is a must! Though there are great high-powered covers of "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Santa Claus Is Back In Town", the core of the album's charm lies in the band's original compositions - the smokin' "A Wild-Eyed Christmas Night", the anthem-like "Hallelujah! It's Christmas", the slow-dancin' "It's Christmas and I Miss You", and even the sentimental "That Old Rockin' Chair". If you try to stay still while listening to this collection you'll hurt yourself!"

Christmas Remixed, Vol. 2: Various Artists

Description

A pretty incredible take on traditional tunes. Check out the samples for a taste of something you probably haven't heard before.....

from Amazon:
In the age of the digital cut and paste and sonic download, these assorted mixers prove that good taste in source material will get you a cooler result no matter how many rhythm tracks, horn blasts, repeated phrases and other techno smoke and mirrors you can throw at a song. Producers Jeff Daniel, Doug Bernheim, and David Hargis expertly picked some prime time pieces from the likes of jazz singer Joe Williams, the mighty organ master Jimmy McGriff, bebop king Charlie Parker and pop jazz crooners, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney, to name a just few. There are even some symphony and philharmonic orchestras whose big recordings are overlaid with alluring new flourishes that sound like they might have always been there in "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" and "Good King Wenceslas." You will probably never hear anything like Clooney's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," being channeled through a distant galaxy with a wreath of rhythmic and melodic aural affects, or Mahalia Jackson's saintly gospel voice turned into an etheric presence on "Silent Night." But it's guaranteed that you will be repeating again and again every alchemical track when the CD is over. Hot. --Martin Keller

My ex-husband was a parrothead, thus the kids are used to lots of tropic-infused melodies at Christmas. This is where they get their fix.
