Description
For April Fool's Day, I MUST pay homage to the Kings of pranks, surprise attacks and general hilarity. Inspector Clouseau and Cato. They have fueled inspiration for many a "Cato" attack amongst my family over the years, and no one does funny better than Peter Sellers.

Description
Talk about prophetic. NETWORK is an amazing commentary on the state of our news and the entertainment world in general. I try to see this at least once a year to remind myself not to get too caught up in the crazy antics of the media. A MUSY MUST MUST see. It's hysterically funny and bitingly bitter.

Do yourself a favor and BUY THIS MOVIE. I is absolutely a classic, and one of the greatest love stories ever ever ever. I suggest getting the original release with yellow subtitles. I found the Director's Cut to dillute the story, and was disappointed when I saw it. But the music, the story, the scenery, and the mood is just wonderful. I cry like a baby everytime - but it's a good cry, I promise!!

L.A. Story

Description
One of my most favorite movies. LA Story is still one of the best depictions of the insanity and romance of Hollywood. Steve Martin is a genius writer, and this piece is one of his most poetic and sweet love stories to Hollywood.

Greatest. Christmas movie. Ever. You'd have to be a cold, cold lump of coal not to love this American classic. I weep openly every time I see it...it always makes me look at the world through rose colored glasses again.

Valley of the Dolls (Special Edition)

Description
Valley of the Dolls is one of the greatest movies EVER! It's filled with drama, cat-fighting, camp, drugs, sex, rock and roll - plus...HELLO...Sharon Tate, Patty Duke, Barbara Perkins and Susan Hayword. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. It's surreal and gritty at the same time - and filmed in that super-fabulous 1967 retro cool genre. Watch and love. And then read the original novel by Jacqueline Susann. It's even steamier than the movie.

True Stories

Description
True Stories is a quiet little gem that came out in the 80's. Directed by and starring David Byrne of the Talking Heads, this satire/mocumentary is to me one of the finest social commentaires on Regan Era urbanization of America, the death of the small town, and the parody that our obsession with fashion and fame can bring into our lives. Oh. And it's really, really funny. With stellar performances by John Goodman (one of America's greatest character actors, imho) and Swoozie Kurtz, and a great soundtrack - True Stories is a must watch and a must have.

Brazil

Description
I try to see this movie at least once a year, as I grow older Brazil seems to make more and more sense - it is prophetic, and gives a great sense of perspective about the absurdities of our bizarre social norms. Personally, I think this is one of De Niro's most endearing roles...he's so NOT De Niro, but my absolute favorite perormance/character/message in the whole film is Katherine Helmond's (a la Who's The Boss) role as Ms. Ida Lowry. This movie is a classic for sure, and so very very Beep. (via gordon)

Gone with the Wind (Two-Disc Edition)

Description
Boys- hear me out. This one is for you too. It's not a syrupy Hillary Duff chick flick. Every year we watch this movie on a really cold rainy day with lots of (spiked) hot chocolate and yummy food to keep us going. This movie is good, good, GOOD. It's epic like they just don't do epic anymore. You won't believe how unbelieveably cool Clark Gable is - and Vivian Leigh is both a complete basket case and total bad a##.
