Yes We Can - Revolution T-shirt

3 people recommended this item

Description

The amount of good design that has come out of Obama's bid for election is pretty impressive, as is the feeling that artistic folks in a variety of graphic mediums are getting behind a cause they believe in with little or no thought to casing in on anything other than progressive political change. This Yes We Can! - Revolution T-shirt is a fine example and is channeling 100% of its profits to the Obama campaign.

The O Face Tee

4 people recommended this item

Description

Obama dunking on McCain. Why not? It's a decent metaphor, and one that speaks to the youthful interest in Obama changing not only the way politics are approached but also how we relate to it.

Obama Baggu

Description

A tidy liberal bundle, this reusable nylon bag features Obama's screen printed face, just in case you plan on wordlessly influencing that stray republican while shopping organically at Whole Foods. Additionally, all profits from the project will go toward Obama's presidential campaign.

Limited Ed. Barack Obama T-Shirt

First to recommend

Description

I'm surprised it hasn't come out yet in the presidential discussion that Barack Obama fronted a short lived metal band in the mid-'80s. I guess his camp has done a lot to cover the story up -- family values and all -- but a few tee shirts from the era have surfaced and are now available in limited edition.

Barack Obama Dia de los Muertos Skull Pendant

First to recommend

Description

In November of this year, Dia de los Muertos will run right into the presidential election, which makes this Obama pendant perfectly appropriate. Sort of grim, sort of fun, the piece features a hand-printed reproduction of an oil painting by Chiapas artist Vale.

NOPE! 5 Pack of stickers

First to recommend

Description

Playing snarkily on Shepard Fairey's increasingly iconic Hope Poster, this design from Dirty Bureau positions John McCain as the smug asshole you're trying to keep out of office. Each sticker is 4" x 6" and comes in packs of five or ten.

NOPE! Tee

First to recommend

Description

The tee version of Dirty Bureau's anti-McCain propaganda, this design conveys the same Shepard Fairey-informed vision. I imagine, from the right, that this image of John McCain conveys a good-natured and kind-hearted old boy. Perfectly executed, it looks like the embodiment of a condescending fuck from the left.

"Nope" Sarah Palin T-Shirt

First to recommend

Description

Here's another variation on Shephard Fairey's Obama/Hope design similar to the McCain illustration I recommended yesterday. I think the artist, Ludwig, probably could have dug around for a more nauseating image, but he doesn't seem to have any problem mustering distaste for the potential VP (see his website for marginally humorous expansion on the topic: ludwigvantheman.com).

Description

It's best to assume that a tee shirt hijacking the Yo! MTV Raps logo for political sloganeering doesn't have to make mush sense. But would it make half as much sense if the shirt supported John McCain?
