About this list:
We at ShitParade, being the conformist corporate scum that we are, want to help you make the best impression you can on potential sweethearts. With that in mind, we've created a Valentine's Day gift list for those of you who want to do right by your ladyfriends but don't know a rose from a robot (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE). And we've also tagged it by price, for those of you who need to do right by your wallets.

For those who can't afford the Rachel Leigh gold whistle necklace. This tells a girl you think she's a free spirit who's also sort of bad ass, and that you want to take a road trip with her. Whoever gets it will definitely think of you when they look at it. ($7 at Fred Flare)

This is branding genius. How has no one thought of this before? From now on, all products should have bad-ass names that are way more interesting than the products themselves. I want to see a cosmetics line called "animal tested" and a tampon called "blood sucker".
For the insomniac Valentine with an addictive personality. (2 can sampler, $4.99)

If I could afford it, the visual theme of my house, and possibly my whole life, would be wood grain objects. Floors, accents, curtains, pillows - the works. ($38-82 by size)

Description
Every girl loves chocolate, no matter how cliched that may seem. If you give her chocolate, don't appologize for giving a boring gift, because that will just make her feel boring for loving it so much. As a half-Swiss girl, I'm a snob about chocolate; dark and bittersweet are pretty much the only acceptable kinds, and while we're at it - why don't we make it Swiss, too. Sprungli is basically the best chocolate in the world. ($22 + shipping)

If you absolutely must get someone a valentine that involves a heart, make it a sharp, almost cynically minimal one (to show you love them - but you don't think they're so cliche as to like hearts). ($25 at day-lab)

Description
I'm always interested in plant vessels, and I generally prefer containers that allow the plant to show off, without cluttering it with a lot of redundant man made decoration. This usually means a simple, clear, glass container - even better with transparent dirt! ($10 at Day-lab)
Note: An easily-maintained live plant can be a nice alternative to cut flowers that die within a week (especially for girls who tend to overthink). Although, those girls (whoever they are) may PREFER cut flowers because then when the plants die, it's not a reflection on their nurturing abilities.
