About this list:

Having been a bookworm as a child and inevitably the last one picked for any team in gym class, I would never have believed that I would be a die-hard fitness fanatic once I reached my freshman year in college. So, I know that there is an exercise to please each and every body. Perhaps you just haven't happened upon it yet. But you will feel better once you do . . . I hope this list helps you to find your own groove and work it.

Description

Okay, so it's not an Olympic sport. But it isn't easy either. So, if you think you have the wrist for it, try this beginner's Yo-Yo and trick book. You could be competing in next year's contest, or simply entertaining your friends and family. Might look good on the resume too. (via Yo-Yo Open)

Rollout Gear: Handball Gloves

Description

During my first handball lesson, I got beaned by the ball on every conceivable part of my body. Needless to say, I am well aware of the keen hand-eye coordination required of handball athletes. Unfortunately, the U.S. does not have a team competing in this sport. To see what it will take for us to make the cut in 2012, watch these athletes: Ivano Balic (Croatia); Pascal Hens (Germany); Bertrand Gille (France); Didier Dinart (France); Nikola Karabatic (France); and Gro Hammerseng (Norway).

Description

It's been more than 10 years since Oscar De La Hoya won the Olympic gold medal in boxing at the Barcelona Games. Is the U.S. still a contender ? Our hopes lie with two men: flyweight (up to 112 pounds) Rau'shee Warren and welterweight (up to 152 pounds) Demetrius Andrade. The final matches will be held at the tail-end of the Games, on August 23 and 24.

Dunhill/Jaques of London: Table Tennis Set

First to recommend

Description

Above and well beyond the standard green table tennis table, this sleek model is the result of a collaboration between Dunhill and Jaques of London. Fully collapsible into a leather case and equipped with a set of bats (paddles) and balls, this table can even travel with you. An Olympic sport for only the past 25 years, it is nonetheless dominated by the Chinese. The table tennis competition may then be one of the fiercest of the 2008 games. (via Luxury Insider)
