About this list:
Having been a bookworm as a child and inevitably the last one picked for any team in gym class, I would never have believed that I would be a die-hard fitness fanatic once I reached my freshman year in college. So, I know that there is an exercise to please each and every body. Perhaps you just haven't happened upon it yet. But you will feel better once you do . . . I hope this list helps you to find your own groove and work it.

Surf Safaris for Women
First to recommend
Description
Even if you have never seen a real wave, much less stood on a surf board, the instructors at "Surf Las Olas" will take you from novice to surf girl in one of their week-long surf safaris. With plenty of down time in between lessons, you will both challenge and recharge yourself. Can you hear those waves yet?

Once you get hooked up with a Nano and the Nike + system, you will really be hooked on walking, running and connecting with all of the other movers and groovers around the globe. This mighty miniature machine plays music, but will also provide you with personalized training, incentives, challenges, mileage and pace tracking, and decent routes to follow in your own hometown. A great investment in your education, health and entertainment.

The ING New York City Marathon: November 2, 2008
First to recommend
Description
Covering all five boroughs of the City of New York, the NYC Marathon has plenty of challenging hills but an incredible outpouring of support from residents of the neighborhoods all along the course. If you cheer, participate or volunteer, you can catch the action on NBC at approximately 3:00 p.m. on race day. I wish all runners good luck, good weather and a great finish ! (via Magnum Photos)

The Ellen DeGeneres Show: Free dance with DJ Tony Okungbowa
First to recommend
Description
Get down with Ellen every weekday at approximately 3:00 p.m. EST as she does her own freestyle dance throughout the audience, accompanied by DJ Tony Okungbowa. If you cannot tune in during the day, tape the show and get your workout in later in the day and on the weekends. At the very least, Ellen will make you laugh . . . and that's a workout too.

Backroads: Bicycling's Dream Rides
First to recommend
Description
Has the start of the Tour de France this past Saturday given you dreams of putting the rubber to the pedal ? If so, then, check out touring company Backroads, which offers tours to suit nearly every level of riding ability. It's a great way to see the sights, especially given the high prices of car AND plane travel.

The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy actively works to support the maintenance of existing walking, biking, hiking and running trails throughout the United States. In so doing, it is making outdoor exercise and environmental education more accessible to more Americans. Support the effort, find a trail suitable for your needs, pick up a book on your region of the country and find out more about how you can get involved as an mover and a shaker both on and off the trails at their website. The fact that these sneaks glow-in-the-dark will appeal to kids and parents alike . . . after-dark activities will be safer and more fun. And the spider web graphic makes these a pair of truly creepy crawlers.

adidas :Women's Supernova Gore Windstopper Jacket
First to recommend
Description
Okay, this idea is a bit radical. How about ditching the gym membership for a few months and try walking and/or running in the great outdoors ? Find a favorite park, pair up with a friend (or your dog) and make it a habit. Three times a week. And arm yourself with this rain-repelling, wind cutting, outer layer so that you won't be deterred when the weather is less than cooperative.

adidas: Men's Supernova Gore Windstopper Jacket

Description
This one's for the guys. Maybe you don't have a gym membership to ditch. Or a personal trainer. But getting into better shape may do as much for your self-esteem as it will do for your body image. Meanwhile, you'll look cool and keep warm while you are out there walking/running/jogging with a friend, the dog or the baby-in-stroller. And you might just be able to work in some networking while you are doing your finishing stretch.
