Pioneers of Spanish Graphic Design

First to recommend

Description

Spain: a country that calls so many famed artists ? Picasso, Dali, Goya, Miro, to name only four ? its own. Yet, the reputation of its graphic designers has never been fully recognized by the international design community, until now. Pioneers of Spanish Graphic Design establishes, once and for all, the legacy of 15 ground-breaking Spanish graphic designers working between 1939-1975. While that historical era was one of economic and political isolation in Spain these designers elevated the daily grind of commercial graphic design work to the level of true inspiration, altering the visual culture of post-war Spain.

Beatles: Limited Edition Stereo USB Digitally Remastered Catalogue

First to recommend

Description

Beatles for sale, I knew that Apple logo would come back in a big way. And here it is. The Beatles "Apple Corps logo" has been redesigned as the killer app (oh I really didn't mean to do that). It's a beautiful 3D object that magically contains the Beatles entire digitally remastered music catalogue. It's what Beatles fans have been wanting for years, but more.

The unique, apple-shaped USB drive is loaded with the re-mastered audio for The Beatles’ 14 stereo titles, as well as all of the re-mastered CDs’ visual elements, including 13 mini-documentary films about the studio albums, replicated original UK album art, rare photos and expanded liner notes. And it's fully compatible with PC and Mac.

P.S. It's a limited edition of only 30,000 ( ^_^ ) -nuff

Papercraft Self Portrait

First to recommend

Description

Be yourself tonight, next Halloween why not go as yourself. This Papercraft self Portrait for Eric Testroete must have been startling to see in the streets. The project was inspired by big-head mode seen in videogames. The process involved using 3ds Max , Mudbox 2010, Photoshop CS3, Pepakura, and TexTools software before printing, cutting and folding up the pieces. Nice work! (via BannedKappa)

Emigre No.70: The Look Back Issue - Selections from Emigre Magazine #1 - #69

First to recommend

Description

One in a while something emerges from the crowded yet restrictive space of magazine publishing that glows with an electric potential for change. In this case it is Emigre Magazine. My first experience with Emigre was issue no 1, a large format yet thin publication, it's quite power struck me like nothing that had come before it, and then in a flash this strange new typographic design magazine inspired a revolution in design, and nothing has been quite the same since. It's nice to see that Emigre now has a fat history book to show off it's contribution to the on going conversation of graphic design.

The Golden Section Nature's Greatest Secret

First to recommend

Description

This thin volume has some of the most powerful graphic handbooks in the known world.

Book Description
A concise and useful handbook on the Golden Section—also known as the Golden Ratio and Golden Mean. The Golden Section is a line segment divided into two parts, such that the ratio of the short portion to the longer portion is equal to the ratio of the longer portion to the whole. It is one of the most elegant and beautiful ratios of the mathematical universe because of its combination of elegance and simplicity—hence the divine nature of its name. Drawing on art, architecture, philosophy, nature, mathematics, geometry, and music—and beautifully illustrated in the Wooden Books fashion with all manner of images—The Golden Section will tell the story of this remarkable construct and its wide ranging impact on civilization and the natural world.
