Schwinn Roadster 12-Inch Trike

Description
This toy definitely qualifies as living vicariously through my child. I wish I had a bike this cool. He is perfectly happy with the cheapest trike on the market, but imagining him pedaling this baby down the sidewalk makes mommy happy.
The only drawback to this bike is that it probably doesn't make the loud grinding noise as it moves across the blacktop that I remember so fondly from the plastic "big wheels" of my own youth.
For those that have girls there is a chrome pink version that I drooled over for a while, trying to convince myself that my son would love it (he probably would, but his father would not be as thrilled).

Description
Another must-have piece of art for my son's room -- a framed "Where the Wild Things Are" poster. One of my very favorite author/illustrators (I have several). (via Museum of Picture Book Art)

miYim Organic Fairytale Knit Collection - Victoria Bunny
First to recommend
Description
This would be an excellent gift for a little girl along with the "Velveteen Rabbit" book. The cool modern toys are the ones you show your friends, but this one is the one you cuddle and tell your secrets to at night.
The MiYim company creates organic cotton toys and baby accessories. Very cool website, but they do not sell via their site. I found this one on amazon.com. (via MiYim)

Suretrack: Toys & Games (holds train sets together)
First to recommend
Description
I can't believe no one has suggested this product yet. It is an absolute must for anyone who has or is considering a train set for their child. Sure track snaps easily to any Thomas/Maxim/Brio compatible train track and holds the pieces together. This is especially useful if you have any elevated track on your set.
Using these has completely eliminated the need for us to glue, nail, or screw down the track. With the exception of one bridge that the Sure Track can't snap to, it holds the entire 200+ piece set together perfectly.
My 2 year old loves it because he can cause utter destruction and it takes less than a minute for Mama or Papa to snap it all back together again. This will increase your enjoyment of the train set exponentially. And the kid will like it too. :)

Maxim Wooden 145 Pc. Train Set: Toys & Games
First to recommend
Description
I recommend that everyone get a wooden train set for their child, girl or boy. Shown is the Maxim 145 piece set, but we were able to purchase one just as big (but much cheaper) from a generic brand. Added to that was a used train table from Craig's List and we had a kickin' set for Christmas for under $100.
We let the relatives know about it and they picked up Thomas the Tank Engine accessories (like the clickity-clack mine tunnel). My son (2 yrs. old) LOVES it. He rarely left its side the entire Christmas vacation and still plays with it every single day. The look on his face when he saw it in front of the tree was classic Christmas wonder. (via Amazon.com)

Description
These are great -- I am definitely getting a few sets for my son. Perfect to carry in my purse this spring/summer when the weather might turn unexpectedly cool. Or on the beach if the wind picks up. An instant conversion to long sleeves and pants without having to carry an extra set of clothes.
And I love the pirate design. :) (via See pirate design here)

Fleece on Earth | Striped Wish Cap
First to recommend
Description
Fleece on Earth produced those terribly tempting products. Whenever someone asks in an awestruck voice "did you make that?" I always have to struggle not to say "Yes!"
Bonny Dutton and her team are amazing artists and every piece of their clothing radiants the joy, innocence, and love of being a child.
From their website:
"The philosophy behind Fleece on Earth has always been to accentuate the natural charm of children while allowing their unique personalities to shine through." (via Fleece On Earth)

Plan Toys My First Dollhouse
2 people recommended this item
Description
A highly recommended doll house for ages 3+ (although I plan to buy it for my 2 year old). This doll house is manufactured by Plan Toys, a green, environmentally friendly company. They have a pretty cool website that you should definitely check out, however you can buy the house for about 1/2 the price at amazon.com.
I've been looking for a doll house for my son that is not too girly, and this one looks great. There is an additional basement piece that you can add on if the house becomes too small for your child's expanding family of toys.

Little Butterfly - Matching Clothing for Girls and Dolls
First to recommend
Description
I had to physically restrain my mother from buying one of these when I was pregnant. Luckily I did, since I ended up having a boy. Ever since then we have lingered at the vendor's stall at every faire with ill-concealed longing.
I agonized for a while which pictures to use since none of them really do the outfits justice. I can safely say that we are hoping for a girl in the family just so we can buy her a few of these outfits! (via Little Butterfly)

Zwinkler, The Copper Garden Sprinkler, Showers and Fountains for Lawn and Garden Home
First to recommend
Description
These garden sprinklers are perfect for kids who like to run through a sprinkler on a hot summer day. Unlike normal sprinklers that you have to lug in and out of the shed, these can stay in place as lawn ornaments when the fun is over. I love the quote from their website:
"What happens when you mix art, copper, sunshine and water?"
Sounds like fun!
Note: They do not say it on their website but I assume that these, like most copper objects, acquire a green patina over time. This can be removed or left as part of the charm. (via Zwinkler)
