I actually like this bed for a single kid. I always wanted one when I was little. :)

The top bunk would make a great place for stuffed animals, books, etc. Having a bunk bed is almost as good as having your own fort!

Another product that looks extremely useful (and also cleans up all those messy cords). I dislike the plastic plugs I am using now -- they always seem to migrate to the floor to be stepped on.

A few notes I have read about this type of cover: be aware of the size before you buy and of what type of plugs you use. Make sure your surge protector and all the plugs on it will fit inside the safety cover.
