Recycline Preserve 100% Recycled Plastic Razor

First to recommend

4 people recommended this item

Description

Finally, I don't have to feel guilty about a disposable razor! I've always been partial to disposable razors, but I hated having to throw the whole thing away. These razors are made of 100% plastic, and are even recyclable again in most communities (#5 plastic, but you can always mail them in if you can't find a recycling program that takes them). Recycline also has other recycled plastic products, including toothbrushes and disposable plates.

Keep Food Cool Without Refrigeration by Using the Zeer Pot

First to recommend

Description

So ponder this: how do you think people in countries without refrigeration keep food from spoiling quickly? By using the natural process of evaporation with the Zeer Pot, that's how! Basically the Zeer Pot consists of two clay pots nestled inside each other, with the space in-between the two pots filled with wet sand, and the contents residing in the inner pot. Both pots are covered by a damp cloth. The natural process of evaporation draws the heat out of the inner pot, helping to preserve the food. How cool is that?! Unfortunately, I haven't found a retailer in the States, but it appears easy to make.... give it a try!

Portable Crank Lantern/Radio (No Batteries Needed!) with Cool Features

First to recommend

Description

Harness the power of your muscles! This is the COOLEST lantern ever! We first started looking for something like this after our last power outage (rural Michigan), which lasted two days. Cranking the handle for about a minute creates a store of energy that should last about an hour! We started thinking how savvy it is to create electricity using mere manpower. This is also the perfect solution for no-electricity situations, including camping (it's sooooo light and narrow for easy packing), traveling, and power outages. Never worry again about not having charged/full batteries when you need them. But the coolest thing about this lantern is the extra features, including compass, 15 red and white LED emergency flashing beacon,# AM/FM radio with MP3 input, 120 decibel siren, night light, high frequency, ultrasonic mosquito repeller, cell phone charger (for a Nokia cell phone, adapters are available for other model phones), and MP3 connector cord. All of this without batteries or power cord!!

"Plastic Bags Blow" Dual Handled Hemp Tote

First to recommend

Description

OK, first and foremost, I love the slogan! "Plastic Bags Blow"- what more need be said? But additionally, this bag has BOTH long and short handles (so you can carry it how you want), is printed with low-impact dyes, and is made of hemp (which is four times stronger than cotton). You will definitely send a message when you shop with this bag!

Orbee-Tuff RecycleBALL Dog Toy

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Now even your pup can go green! A safe, non-toxic ball for hours of fetching fun made of 100% recycled plastic. (Added plus: somehow our neighbor's dog manages to destroy EVERY toy we get, so if and when I have to throw this away, at least I'll feel a little bit better that it was recycled to begin with.)

Seventh Generation Recycled Paper Towels

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

Paper towels are the ultimate disposable item, right? Well, if you are looking to go a little bit greener, then recycled paper towels are the ticket. In fact, recycled paper everything would be great, but I'll be honest. Seventh Generation's recycled facial tissue and toilet paper are a bit too flimsy for some people (I use them, but I know a few people who won't). The paper towels, on the other hand, are just like other regular (not super-absorbent) paper towels out there.

Reusable Diapers: Little "G" Pants with Flushable Liners

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Finally, a baby diaper compromise!! Imagine a diaper that can be flushed! This innovative diaper has a reusable cloth outer shell, and an inner flushable liner. I actually don't have kids, and so can't say I've used this product, but have been searching for a realistic and affordable diaper solution for years, for when the time comes. (I'm a little wary of cloth diapers, because we are away from home a lot.) I hope that someone out there who has swathed their little darling in these can provide a more in-depth review, because I am just dying to hear how they work!

Burt's Bees Baby Bee Dusting Powder

Description

Talc has been bombasted in the news for a number of years now. The tiny particulates may cause problems when inhaled, and cause issues if it enters into the female reproductive system. The answer? A talc-free body powder based on cornstarch (not just fo rbabies, you know!). And quite honestly, it smells heavenly and feels like powdered silk!!

Countertop Plastic Bag Dryer

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

OK, it's so simple it's almost stupid. How many times have you thrown away a perfectly good plastic bag, because it needed to be washed, and making sure they completely dry can be a hassle? I know I used to do that all the time. I would sometimes hand my bags over utensils, but they would fall off, get wet again, or just be in the way, so I ended up throwing them out. The truth is, this really isn't going to save you much money.... chances are you'll be washing a lot of the plastic bags you got at the grocery store for free (although if you wash and dry gallon-size ziplock bags, that could be a money-saver), but you will feel better knowing you are keeping that non-biodegradable plastic out of our landfills.

Recycled Flip Flop Door Mat

13 people recommended this item

Description

These things are great! In the spring and summer, they add a great splash of color to your doorway, entrance, or pantry. These mats are great for preventing mud from tracking all the way through your home. Best of all, they're crafted from recycled flip flops!
