Fern Wall Graphics - Wall Slicks - Product

2 people recommended this item

Description

Beautiful neutral pattern for a bathroom or greenhouse/sunroom.

Wall stickers are especially useful when you are intending on selling in the near future and want to keep the colorscheme and decoration generic. Be as crazy as you like with stickers and then take them down before the open house! (via Wall Slicks)

Modular desk system

First to recommend

Description

In my first apartment I used a door laid on top of filing cabinets as my desk and I've never had a better one. This system has the same feel & function but a nicer look. It would be easy to definte different "spaces" for crafts, computer gaming, and home office. (via Pottery Barn)

Windham Media, Storage Console

First to recommend

Description

I have my eye on several pieces from this collection for my kitchen. Since I am thinking of selling my place within the next year or two I am looking for things that look nice, but are movable to a new space (rather than getting custom built-ins).

They come in white and black and have a clean, bright design. I am a sucker for glass panes.

I actually prefered their previous model -- the Springdale. It had 8 glass panes rather than twelve and black knobs instead of brushed aluminum (and without the wide baseplate on the pulls). It had a simpler, more traditional feel. (via Crate & Barrel)

Gridwall Panels and Wire Mini Grid Wall Displays

First to recommend

Description

I have never liked hanging pot racks because they are difficult to place in a kitchen unless you have a reasonably standard design, and they make the room look cluttered unless you have a good amount of space.

Instead I plan to hang one of these chrome commercial grids on an empty wall in the kitchen and hang pots and other kitchen implements from it.

I chose this site because it had the best pictures, but you may be able to find these cheaper somewhere else. Search keyword "gridwall." (via Storage Fixture Supply)

Homeclick | Empire Plain Profile Mantelshelf 72''

First to recommend

Description

Whether my house has a fireplace or not I definitely want a mantle shelf in my living room. The shelf will have a large, flat-screen TV mounted over it, well anchored and well out of reach of curious little baby fingers.

Pottery Barn | Hundi Lantern

First to recommend

Description

Although I hate to be as main stream as Pottery Barn and Crate&Barrel I find it hard to resist the clean, simple designs (although I find it very easy to resist the price tags).

This pendant lantern gives light in all directions, making it good for small, potentially dark spaces. The iron and glass combo fits both modern and traditional spaces.

The lantern also comes in some beautiful cut glass styles. (via Pottery Barn)

Florian Greenhouse/Sunroom

First to recommend

Description

I absolutely must have a greenhouse/sunroom in my dream house. It is key to find a manufacturer/installer who is able to integrate the room into your overall home design so that it does not look "stuck on."

I am not sure why, but I loved the idea of my kitchen being in a sunroom (though I don't particularly care for the cabinet color/choice in the image).

Benefits: much more likely to cook healthy if you have nature surrounding you. Your kitchen will always be light, bright, and airy.

Drawbacks: Grease from cooking might coat the windows in hard to reach spaces. Everyone can look in and see your dirty dishes. :O (via Florian Products)

Michael Whelan | Illustration Work

First to recommend

Description

My dream home would definitely have one, or more, Michael Whelan reproductions. I do not believe this particular one is for sale, but his site and store is always worth checking out. One of my favorite illustrators, by far. I have bought books simply because he did the covers. Just as wonderful are his "personal visions" works of original art. (via Michael Whelan)

Jody A. Lee | Illustration Work

Description

Another must-have in my dream home is a Jody A. Lee reproduction. I love her work and have been known to buy books just because she did the cover. I've rarely regretted it!

On her website she says: "I use cobalt drier to speed drying times and linseed oil for that clear, luminous look." However she does it, it's that clear luminous look that really stands out and defines her artwork.

According to her website she does work on commission so that is the next item for my dream house -- a Jody A. Lee portrait of my son. (via Jody A. Lee)
