Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity
First to recommend
11 people recommended this item
Description
This is one of the few time management/personal productivity books I've ever read that's actually made sense. In this case, David Allen was able to explain why my to do list was getting longer by the day, my brain was feeling more and more overwhelmed, and my email in-box was about to implode. (Actually, it did implode a few times, but I'll leave that story for another day.)
In a nutshell, Allen's book maps out a simple strategy for "getting things done" that involves getting those "to dos" out of your head and on to a series of "action" lists. Of course, you have to work the system. No system is maintenance-free.
There are a growing number of Internet websites devoted to the ideas contained in this compelling and idea-filled book -- e.g., DIYPlanner.com, 43folders.com, and LifeHacks.com. If you decide to give Allen's system a go, you'll find plenty of online support and inspiration.

Credit Card Wallet/Cigarette Case with Flower Design

Description
When my handheld pda quit working, I wondered if there was a cheaper, less fragile, less technical answer to my problem. Aesthetics count with me, so it had to be pretty, and it had to be small enough to fit in my jeans pocket.
I ended up getting a cigarette case much like this one. It's not exactly the same one. There are many cases out there, and many are inexpensive. The important thing is that it's 4 inches long (to accommodate the stowaway pen I will list separately) and that it has clips on two sides, inside.
I write everything down on blank business cards (or on the backs of discarded business cards) from daily schedules to grocery lists, and to-do lists. Those tiny refrigerator calendars Realtors pass around fit right inside if you take the magnet off.
On one side of the interior I store reference cards (like clothing sizes, this month's budget) and on the other side I store today's stuff: where I'm going, what I'm doing. Think Hipster PDA or better yet, Walleteer (Listed separately).
I also put in some blank cards, so if a thought occurs to me, or I need to check on something later, I can just jot it down. And hey, I don't have to struggle with the graffiti alphabet.
It works perfectly for the GTD system. It doesn't do everything a palm pilot does, but it seems to do enough. I got my case monogrammed with my initials, so now I guess I'm committed.

In another listing, I explain how I use a cigarette case for my pda. This pen is the stylus. It's a Fisher Space Pen so it's a good pen, and it's tiny enough to fit inside the (4" long) cigarette case. And it runs about $8. So cool.

You are such a winner!
This is free, by the way.

Description
Google Notebook is a tool you can download from the internet to your computer. When you're on the internet, its icon sits at the bottom of your browser and you can open it up and use it whenver you want.
It's a way to store information, either from websites or just notes to yourself, when you're online. A way to keep track of things: images, ideas, quotes. . . you can make a note about whatever you want.
You can have numerous notebooks; for example, I use one for a to-do list, one to keep track of ideas for my blog, one for my geneology research, and so on. I use it every time I'm on the internet, and I don't know how I ever functioned without it.
