Behind The Veil

Description

When my mom got married, they forgot to pack the veil in the box with the dress she'd ordered and by the time they figured it out, it was too late - it was the day of the wedding. So, my grandfather, who was always known for fixing and rigging as well as MacGuyver (he once fixed a car radiator with chewing gum), grabbed a pair of scissors and cut a lace tablecloth apart so my mother wouldn't be without a veil. Unfortunately, she also walked down the aisle with the veil off... so when she got to the altar, my father put it back down, which made everyone giggle because it seemed like he didn't want to look at her when really he was just being as traditional as he always is....

"You know when it's summer, and everything is warm and pink and lovely. You escape from grown ups for a little while to hang out in the secret spot where you're not supposed to go because your mom thinks that there might be dangerous hobos there, or people doing drugs or something, which there never are. So this boy and girl are there together. Boy thinks he is going to really impress Girl by blabbing about some band he knows, or movie that he saw, but Girl is preoccupied by this dandelion and wondering when boy is going to shut up and kiss her already."

Miss Brigette may have just summarized exactly what it's like to be a teenager.

So what about adulthood?

Replace woods with bar. Replace dandelion with vodka tonic. Lather, rinse, repeat.
