About this list:
A survey of introspection; a nostalgic girl's list of the shades, shadows, and sparks that ebb and flow the images of the past into the present and then recede into the distance.

Description
Not only was Melina Mercouri a GODDESS, but she was also the Minister of Culture for Greece, appointed after suffering through years of political exile in France, waiting for democracy to return to her country.
"I was born a Greek and I will die a Greek. Mr. Pattakos was born a fascist and he will die a fascist." See what I mean?? GODDESS!
In this film, you actually get to see her play against love of her life, actor/director Jules Dassin - and she was nominated for an Oscar for her performance.
This also happens to be my mother's all time favorite movie, second only to The Party, starring Peter Sellers.

Description
These birds are on the way across North Dakota. I saw them on a drive I took with my best friend Jessica across the country from Florida to Washington State.
A metal worker in Regent saw that his town was dying after the highway took drivers far from where they would stop through. So he made figures like these all down the road from the highway into town and people visited them. This kept the shops from dying.
After driving through the entirety of North Dakota all in one crazy night, this image was the first thing I saw at dawn... rolling hills covered in nothing but dead husks... and these GIANT metal sculptures keeping watch over the vast countryside.
Absolutely breathtaking.
