Description
Layered plywood scraps have come to make this totally functional chair. I seem to be drawn to art that is not sold in mass...good for me, yet bad for me.

Warther Knives
First to recommend
Description
These knives are beautiful. The are sold in sets and separately. Ernest "Mooney" Warther, a wonderful carver, started making knives in 1902. Family carries on this practice of making knives. They grind and polish each knife by hand and are easy identifiable by the circular patterns. Wonderful wedding gift or Christmas gift.
Free sharpening for the life of the knife. These are truly exceptional.
The museum is less than an hour away. I'd highly recommend if you are ever in Ohio. He did many unbelievable carvings of trains. The Smithsonian has tried ever-so-hard to acquire them, but his family is adhering to his wishes - of his work to stay where he did it.

Wooden toy Block wagon with 100 Red Oak Unit Blocks
First to recommend
Description
Wow! How beautiful is this? The wagon is made from Black Cherry and the blocks from Red Maple. I have been searching high and low for wooden toys for my nieces and nephew. This would most definately be a toy that is passed on for generations. (via coolmompicks.com)

Green Home - Glass Straws

Description
How totally cool (like, really!)
I love my iced tea, so I follow my dentist's advice in drinking those staining liquids through a straw so the front of my teeth don't suffer the consequences....AND......believe it or not........straws have been a major issue with the waste and the way I reuse the same ones at home.
Not sure anything qualifies as functional art as much as this!
Some may not consider this to be a NEED, but it is for me!!
Super strong glass
Used with cold or hot liquids (hot?)
Guaranteed against breakage

Description
Ok, so I have way more than a green thumb, so perhaps this isn't perfect for everyone, BUT this is for ME!! I'm inclined to try to build one myself, which I could do, but I probably would never get around to it.
What's more functional than art, decor and a means to breath!
