I just got into this book and it's already one of the most entertaining reads I can remember. It's smart, funny, tragic, compelling and, completely, intriguing.

Chuck Dugan Is AWOL: A Novel - With Maps: Eric Chase Anderson

Description

I'm not ashamed to say that the only reason I read this book was because it's by Wes Anderson's brother (fanboyish, I know- I'm okay with that). But, this isn't a Billy Carter ordeal. Eric Chase is equally as talented as his brother, but also, it's enjoyably transparent that the two came from the same gene pool. It's a quirky story of a naval drop out and his, somewhat ridiculous, adventure to stop his mothers marriage and find the treasure left behind by his father. Yes, this novel really does have maps and they're perfect.

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay

Description

I'll just say this, The OC was inspired by this book. In fact, its mentioned countless times throughout the series. But, don't kid yourself, this certainly isn't the OC. It takes place in 1939 and is, well, an amazing adventure of two boys. I'd certainly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good ol' coming of age story.

Still Life with Woodpecker, by Tom Robbins,

Description

This is easily the single weirdest book I've ever read. It's some sort of dysfunctional love story with hero's like Ralph Nadar and activist actions like bombings that aren't too surprising. If you can hang in there though it, you're bound to be satisfied by the end.

More Sex Is Safer Sex: Steven E. Landsburg

First to recommend

Description

You know how economics is nothing but making ridiculous statements that can't be proven wrong and playing them off as a serious possibility. No shocker here, that's what this book does. But really, it's an economic theory book that revolves around the notion that the more people that have sex, the safer sex will be.
