About this list:

so we've bought our first house. problem is, we're decidedly modern & the house is new england colonial. you can't argue with 'good bones' so we'll make it work by combining clean vintage furniture with some traditional pieces. should be our best balancing act yet.

The graphic, glass bottles look fantastic next to any sink & the silky, vegetable-based soaps they contain wash & gently scent without drying. The fig is in constant stock at my house.

czech glass tumblers

Description

these whimsical tumblers can be used along side any dishware - they're made from whisper thin glass & have a very old school french hand despite the 'disposable' design. great for the breakfast table. (via Merchant No. 4)

Lilypon Mirror by Amy Lau

Description

I love this enameled mirror by interior designer, Amy Lau. It's vaguely reminiscent of Curtis Jere sculptures from the 60's but the glossy, saturated color really updates it.

Hand-painted ceramics from Bulgaria have a crafty yet elegant feel. I'd mix it with plain white china for a playful table without being too patterny. Yes, I just made up that word. Word.

Finnish designer Harri Koskinen fashioned these birch storage boxes for LP's but mine are stuffed with magazine back issues & dog toys. The super clean aesthetic keeps your clutter under cover, even when moving from room to room.

Giant Apothecary Bottles

First to recommend

Description

These monumental apothecary jars could look cool in a grouping. You could fill them with something organic like river stones or use them to contain an existing collection. I'd use a group of 5 as a very non-frou-frou centerpiece.
