Soy Crayon Rocks
4 people recommended this item
Description
Crayon Rocks are easy to hold, encourage a proper pencil grip and develop fine motor skills. These crayons create beautifully textured drawings. Made of soy wax, so they go on smoothly, like pastels or paint. Kids love them too!
You get 16 Crayon Rocks stored in a 4" square box, protected by a sliding clear cover. (via Kids ~ Stuff ~ World)

I love the idea of spreading the word with something we wear. They have adult and children sizes. How awesome would it be to see a three year old claiming she saved a life?
Each purchase of a t-shirt funds lunch for a child in Ghana for an entire year. Handnumbered, sweatshop free, eco-friendly inks. (via Rare Bird Finds)

Ok, so most people won't go out and splurge on all eco-friendly school supplies, but what if everyone tried to incorporate just one or two products into the mix. It would be a start.
Leave the petroleum out of crayon to save more for our cars! These soybean crayons claim to be brighter, flake less and draw smooth.

Description
Great idea. Instead of plastic baggies to be thrown away, wrap a sandwich in this food-safe, PEVA liner that unfolds into a placemat!
This would also be great for children, in teaching them to reuse instead of throw away! (via Cool Mom Picks)

Nubius Organics - Laptop Lunch Bento Set, Periwinkle Blue
First to recommend
Description
Reusable, non-toxic (lead-free) lunch box. I think the thing I like best about the containers inside is that it would be easier to control portions, than just give kids money so they can eat whatever and however much
The plastic is also recyclable (though it doesn't say what number it is).

Paper Mate EarthWrite Recycled Pencils
2 people recommended this item
Description
The story behind these pencils will make you want to buy them! The wood of the pencil is made from reclaimed wood (100% recycled)...from old buildings, bridges, railroad ties, barns and mills. The lead is non-waxed and with a green, vinyl eraser.
Why is using reclaimed wood important? This eliminates the need for virgin wood, which builds roads in roadless areas, affecting indigeous people.

Look at that, 100% post consumer recycled at Office Max! Is there ANY reason we all shouldn't be buying it? They also have 30%, but why?
Just bought two reams and I felt great doing it. It's sad that more local places don't offer more eco-friendly options.
More recycled products!!!!

Ok, who hasn't seen this video yet? For those that haven't...DO IT. We are all stuck in our little world of shopping, storing it within our four walls and throwing our trash out to the curb, but there is so much more to the picture. Where did the stuff come from and where does it go? WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE STATE OF OUR WORLD. You don't have to be an environmentalist to realize that Americans are very careless with the soil, water, and air we have. How very selfish and self-absorbed to think society and future generations are not impacted by our choices.
The video is about 20 minutes, but it is presented in such a simple, clear, and entertaining way - you'll want to watch it more than once!
