When I think of the name Sitting Bull my mind first envisions a duck sitting on a plain bean bag chair. Then the little duck is replaced buy a massive bull. Then the simple bean bag chair transforms into colorful pixels or a Union Jack graphic. Funny how a name does wonders with my imagination.

Mod Mom founder Kiersten Hathcock is a stay-at-home mom turned self-taught furniture designer & builder. After leaving the corporate world in 2003, to spend more time with her kids, Kiersten rekindled a passion for woodworking. Her father, a self-taught carpenter and woodworker, built most of her family's furniture growing up, and she learned from tinkering around in his garage workshop. Thirty-some years later, Kiersten works from her own workshop where she designs and produces her modern/mid-century inspired kids' furniture. (via design public)

Fatboy Headdemocks are back! Now that winter is nearly to an end (in most regions) Fatboy has brought out their coveted summer item: the Headdemock. Back in the day my dad would inquire about when I was going to get him a Headdemock. For him, the idea of a leisurely day on a Fatboy Headdemock while drooling for or maybe eating a Fatboy Ice Cream sandwich (the two of which are not related but both utterly delicious) was too enticing of a notion for him not to get overly excited. I buckled and bought him the Fatboy Headdemock of his dreams. Next to come will be the ice cream sandwiches (via design public)

An obsession for many a DP customer: the MASH LAX Series. Now MASH Studios has released their LAX Free Standing Shelf, a clean, simple and striking shelving unit. The bright white aluminum doors contrasted with the beautiful wood grain lends a very orderly yet casual look to a room.

The LAX Free Standing Shelf is without question among the top five items I would love to see in my home someday. A part of me wants to begin collecting all my favorite pieces for my dream home (which I won't be able to afford until the year 2072), but then I realize if I begin collecting now, I just might not be able to fit all the goods in my current 4x6’ apartment. The Gus Design Group has created an ottoman that completely satisfies my felt fetish needs: the Jasper Cube Ottoman. There is something about really good felt that just does it for me. I love the durability of the material, the clean lines the fabric creates, and the way it can easily go from informal to formal without having to try too hard. If only people had it that easy! Have you had enough of all the new DwellStudio items? I don’t think so! DwellStudio has gone from covering your bed to covering your walls with their recently released wall art. If I let my creative juices go I’ll shower you with different ways these pieces could be arranged. How about a diptych of Gio Giraffe in Aqua and Petal, or a triptych of Jacks in all three colors, or a polyptych of Dots in Aqua and Lemon, or maybe a combination of all twelve pieces! Imagine sitting, reclining or perching on an immensely large beanbag covered in a designer fabric that has been admired in the design world since the mid 60’s. The combination goes together about as nice as peanut butter and jelly. But, lo! What happens if you spill a bit of your PB&J on the Fatboy Marimekko-Unikko in Cobalt? No worries! OFFI Arp Stool

Design Public just added a handful of new OFFI items to the site. One highlight is the ARP Stool which was actually first introduced in the early 90’s by Pure Design of Canada and now OFFI is re-introducing the uber popular stool. I can’t get enough of molded plywood and love the way this seat is curvaceously formed. I actually see the ARP Stool as a formal invitation to take a seat at the bar or counter. What an invitation!
