About this list:

A recent west coast translplant to Brooklyn, here's a few things I've grown to greatly appreciate since my move out here. Because, you know, their is a big difference between west coast and east in just about every way.

NOW Watch

Description

It's a watch. No it's a cuff. No it's a statment. Really, it's all three and I like it. I guess you could say this is a ThisNext exclusive since no one has heard of the NOW watch, yet.

Morgan, the designer, wears it very well but I was a touch skeptical as to how it would look on a female arm so we put it on Fashion Kitty. The response was, and I quote, "Bomb Ass."

I agree.

As David Lynch often says "The world is as you are," and as someone who is constantly on the go and always looking ahead at what's coming it's an excellent reminder to stop myself and be present.

Rumor has it other styles will be offered but for NOW, pick up one of these. We all know someone who could benefit from the message.

Anything by K-Os

Description

Buy everything from this artist. Heard him awhile ago and is one of my favorites although he's not very big in the states yet. Good beats, thoughtful message and each album is golden. A good mix of R&B and hip-hop vibe with some singing and spoken word. The first two albums are on iTunes and the latest, Atlantis, is on Amazon.

It's all good but some of my faves...

From Joyful Rebellion: Crabbuckit, Man I Used to Be, Hallelujah

Exit: Heaven only knows, Superstarr, Freeze, The Anthem, Higher, Masquerade*

Au Revoir Simone

Great band in Brooklyn. Was turned on to them by David Lynch and really dig the sound. You can get them on iTunes but they aren't a "mainstream" discovered band by any means.

FreshDirect

Description

I agree with Caroline and Allie, FreshDirect.com is a total god-send. They have delish snacks and entrees that are gourmet enough to serve for a nice dinner. The fruit selection is pretty good as is the wine. The delivery is quick and has always been on time.

And, Inexplicably, I randomly receive free items I didn't order. One time it was three boxes of Barilla pasta, another a bar of soap, today I received a 12-pack of Amstel light (alright!) and, the best one, 6 four-packs of Orangina. I don't know why and I'm not going to ask.

My only gripe is the wastefulness of the boxes! Every time I open up a box and see two small items in it I just shake my head. Surely there is a way to be a touch more eco-friendly. (via caro)

Frederic Fekkai Body Cream with Shea Butter

First to recommend

Description

Fekkai's body cream is my favorite lotion. A friend worked at Fekkai and gave me a free tube and I've been hooked ever since. It has great texture, a nice yummy clean smell and is super moisturizing. I can feel it being absorbed by my skin, something I need for these cold back East winters! (via Sephora)

Lavendar Oil (everyone should have it)

First to recommend

Description

I tell everyone I can about lavender oil. I regularly put it in baths for some extra soothing effect. It also works wonders on a jumpy nervous system. If you can't sleep (or your kid can't) put some lavendar oil on the bottom of the feet and before you know it you (or they) will be knocked right out in a delicious sleep. It's also great to dab on our hand and take a few deep inhales when under stress. It's one of the only oils that can go on neet (no need to mix with a base oil.)

I used to attend tradeshows and would have to stand all day. By the end my feet were always killing me- swollen, sore, etc. If you rub some of this on your feet you will wake up refreshed. I promise! I roomed with one of my co-workers and her feet were so swollen she couldn't put her shoes back on. She didn't think it would save her from aches the next day but she let me try it out on her. The next morning it was if nothing had happened! She became a believer instantly. I recommend everyone have a bottle in their medicine cabinet. It's pretty cheap and you can buy it just about everywhere (whole foods has a great selection.) Even the bf likes it. (via The Herbs Place)

Freixenet Sparkling Wine

First to recommend

Description

There is nothing greater than a champagne campaign. My friends and I drink a bottle together and then save the cork, writing the date and people who were in attendance. We have enough to fill a large boat but who's counting.

Freixenet is not "the best" champagne but it is the best value and it's easily drinkable. Drink the bottle of Moet before to toast and then get down and dirty with Freixenet. A group of 12 of us went through 16 bottles in two days in Vegas...if that says anything.

Don't lessen yourself for the $3 Tott's. Go Freixenet all the way.

(available at any liquor or grocery store worth it's salt.)

Cheers! (via Freixenet)

SideWinder Emergency Cell Phone Charger

First to recommend

Description

I often find myself with a low battery at the most inopportune moments, usually when I am nowhere near a power outlet or am without my charger. It's small enough to always have on you.

I love how ingenious this idea is and that it's a green product. No power necessary except that of your own hands to charge it up. A great gift and an ideal emergency must-have.

From product description:

A two minute charge gives you more than six minutes of talk time and even more standby time. Keep charging and talk indefinitely. (via Sundance Solar)
