About this list:
A recent west coast translplant to Brooklyn, here's a few things I've grown to greatly appreciate since my move out here. Because, you know, their is a big difference between west coast and east in just about every way.

Description
OK, so Dansko's aren't the sexiest shoe out there, nor do they compete with those sassy heels the ladies strut around in but man are they comfortable. If it's a long day of walking, and it's not 100 degrees out side these are the shoes to wear. Ask anyone who owns a pair and they will profess their love too. They're great for when you want some supportive shoes to give your feet a rest and *ideal* for vacations with a lot of walking. I've taken my pair to Europe three times and never once ended up with sore feet or a blister. They're a much better alternative to those faux-paus street tennis shoes. I have a pair in brown and their super versatile. And, during fall and winter I see them all the time on the subways so i'm not alone in my adoration. Oh, and they last forever and are really well made. A truly great value. Happy walking! (via dandsko.com)

Napa Valley Marinade

Description
I stumbled upon cabernet & garlic marinade at Draeger's (a local Bay Area store) about 6 years ago and have yet to find anything that beats it. Unfortunately, it's harder to find these days and it seems only a select few online stores sell it. When I place an order I get at least 6 bottles. I once soaked a steak in this marinade for 24 hours on a camping trip and it was, to this day, the best steak I have ever eaten. The spices, garlic, oils and other flavors perfectly blend together to create a nice accent with any meat that isn't overpowering. And, don't use sparingly. The more the merrier, as will be your party with any dish you serve made with this. Speaking of...I think it's time I reorder (via Napa Valley Products)

Just Smoked Salmon

Description
Growing up in California you take advantage of the fact that when you order smoked salmon you get just that. Coming to New York I placed an order for "smoked salmon" with fresh direct and was shocked to receive a pound of lox. I went on a hunt for smoked salmon as I know it and found it under a different name- kippered, or "hot" smoked salmon. Yum. Reminds me of home.
