For anyone who's been reading my blog over at Organic Beauty View you'll know exactly how I feel about these Lip Glosses but in case you missed it, they're the BOMB. At only $13.00 a pop it's an alternative to your MAC, Stila, Nars, whatever ... that you can't afford to be without. I've been an organic & natural lip gloss obsessive for longer than I care to remember, constantly on the lookout for an option that's not loaded with petrochemicals & toxic ingredients, but still performs like my old, conventional faves. At last!!! These lip glosses are 100% natural with 83% vitamin E to drench your lips with moisture and provide loads of shine. The patented color pigments all come from fruit, ditto the smell & taste. The colors go on translucent so they never look overdone. Every makeup artist I can think of from Bobbi Brown to Dick Page, Pat McGrath and Gucci Westman, has pushed, prodded and emphatically pronounced the necessity of using a good set of tools. Fingers are fine and can be used for certain applications, but let's face it, unless you're Jackson Pollack and you look like Angelina Jolie, it's hard to create a masterpiece without the right tools. Killer aesthetic wins me over every time but it's particularly irresistible when combined with savvy and intelligent product design. I love the products being launched from the 'Help' crew. Besides your lippy, cellphone & credit cards there are two things that in an emergency (and as we all know they do happen), no girls' purse should be without: Band aids and pain killers. And now ... Made with sustainably farmed ingredients grown exclusively in Hawaii, these Organic Aroma Mists are to-die-for. The scents are all steam distilled directly from indigenous plants & flowers to produce a hydrosol that is the very essence of the source. Plumeria smells exactly like burying your face in a franjipani bloom; the coconut is fresh; the vanilla is local and indigenous; mango nectar smells juicy and freshly peeled; Koke'e is straight out of the rainforest. Because the mists don't contain the chemical binders that make the scent last a long time on your skin, you do have to spray more often but hell, that's a small price to pay for not spritzing yourself with reproductive and endocrine disruptors - not to mention petrochemicals (some of the worst toxic ingredients in fragrance). Walgreens are pitching a more beautiful green future with the introduction of The Face Shop, number one selling cosmetic brand in Korea. Believing that nature is the best source of beauty, their products are formulated with natural extracts and are completely free of harmful chemicals. Priced as affordable without sacrificing quality, I haven't personally tried the products but the line includes makeup, skincare etc... I also haven't been able to verify ingredients from their website, but I love that they're making the effort so that's why I bring them up.
