this is another movie that i watched constantly as a child...and i haven't gotten sick of it yet! even when it's NOT easter season! fred astaire and judy garland team up in this movie and it's filled with crazy tap dancing and marvelous singing by the both of them. i adore both fred and judy and am so delighted that they did this movie together. it's a classic!

i am so grateful that they finally decided to bring rent to the silver screen! it's one of the greatest pieces of broadway that has come out in the past 15 years. i never got a chance to see it on stage so i'm so glad that they made this film - especially since most of the original cast has revived their roles! the songs are electric and soulful and the story will make you laugh hysterically and cry your eyes out. it's truly an emotional journey to watch this movie and i think that it should be required to watch in school, honestly! this movie not only teaches about the struggles of drug addiction and HIV/AIDS but also teaches tolerance and understanding.

Description
this is such a powerful movie and i can't get enough of it. it's more on the serious side which is unusual for musicals but its still such a strong and beautiful movie to watch. the story takes place in tsarist russia in 1905 and the story centers on tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and religious traditions while the world and civilization around the village change rapidly. even if you are not jewish (which i'm not), this movie will drag you back to the horrible trials and tribulations that the jewish community has had to endure. aside from the historical and moral insights, it also contains some of the most beautiful pieces of music you will ever find in a movie. i often find myself humming the tune the fiddler plays on the roof.

i can't even begin to describe why i love this movie so much but i will try. i honestly watched this movie every sunday when i was in high school and drooled over all the hot boys in it. it's a lesser known disney film but it's such a treat to watch! a young christian bale (batman returns) is the main character and all the ladies will appreciate this fine specimen of a man dancing and singing his little heart out. if you asked me to, i could probably sing every song in this movie off the top of my head right now! it's seriously one of my favorite movies of ALLLLLLLL time. it even has vinnie (max casella) from doogie howser in it and aaron lohr who is one of the bash brothers in the mighty ducks and is also in the new rent! movie.
to give it some actual credibility, robert duvall, ann margaret and bill pullman are also in the film!
seriously, if you love watching hot boys singing and dancing - this movie is for you!!!!

has there ever been a bigger musical then this movie? julie andrews does a spectacular job of portraying the nun maria who will go on to care for the von trapp family. julie andrews has one of the biggest singing voices in cinema and this movie is the pinnacle of her career. julie went on to do many more films but she will always be remembered as the woman who sang beautifully, "the hills are alive...with the sound of music!" this movie has all the elements in it: comedy, music, history and drama. you will fall in love with the von trapps and cheer them on in their fight against the nazis!

Hello, Dolly!

Description
omg, this movie made me fall in luuurve with barbra streisand! she is such a fabulous diva in this movie! it's such a joy to watch this movie over and over again and listen to her glorious voice singing. the outfits are pretty spectacular too. in addition, a young walter matthau is in the movie (grumpy old men, the odd couple) and a very young michael crawford plays a big role as well (he was the ORIGINAL phantom of the opera on broadway!). i would beg my mom to get hello, dolly! whenever we went to rent a movie when i was in elementary school. it's a treat for the whole family to enjoy! (i also just found out that it's directed by gene kelly so you KNOW it's gotta be grand!)

i used to live in a remote part of maine where we didn't even have reception to get the basic channels on our television. this was also the days when VCR's had just been invented. i would come home every day in third grade and watch this movie because it was one of three movies we had on video. i could watch this movie over and over again, it never gets old to me! it's one of the best musicals EVER made and one of the highlights of gene kelly's career. i fell in love with gene and his singing and dancing and i wanted to dress up in all the fabulous clothes the women wore in the film. it's truly a superb movie and great for all ages!

this is one of my *favorite* movies of ALL time! nicole kidman, ewan mcgregor and john leguizamo bring this movie to life with their singing and acting. from experience, i find that you either LOVE this movie or hate it. my boyfriend can't understand why they are singing contemporary songs but i thought it was such a creative and bold move on baz lurham (director) to do his take on the modern songs. i think he is an absolute genius and i love every movie he has ever done!
