Warther Knives

Description
These knives are beautiful. The are sold in sets and separately. Ernest "Mooney" Warther, a GREAT carver, started making knives in 1902. Family carries on this practice of making knives. They grind and polish each knife by hand and are easy identifiable by the circular patterns. Wonderful wedding gifts.
The museum is less than an hour away. I'd highly recommend if you are ever in Ohio. He did many unbelievable carvings of trains. The Smithsonian has tried ever-so-hard to acquire them, but his family is adhering to his wishes - of his work to stay where he did it.

Who the heck gives any thought to sponges???
Well, somebody, and they make a good point. The website informs me that traditional sponge manufacturing creates a lot of waste (not to mention the waste when we throw them into our trash). They claim that 99.97% of their waste is reused. In addition, the cellulose comes from renewable tree farms.
They are washable and bio-degradable. Fabulous. (via ljcfyi.com)

I have not tried them, but anything biodegradable is good in my book. Not for delicate dishware, but good for everyday cleaning. Long lasting, compared to our disposable sponges. Very artsy looking also. (via metaefficient.com)

Description
If going organic seems too intimidating, start with what is termed the "Dirty Dozen". The "Dozen" is the first twelve on EWG's list of fruits and vegetables with the highest pesticide load (peaches being #1). If shopping, AT LEAST, buy these organic. The last twelve are the "safest" (#45 being onions).
It's a start, but it encourages awareness of what you are eating.
Although, I look forward to shopping at the farmer's market every week (when it's in season). You are most likely buying organic there AND supporting local farmers. Your choices matter!

All this glass is gorgeous! If I could post more pics, I would. They make all pieces for a place setting, vases and candle holders.
They boast that 7 out of 9 colors use more than 90% recycled glass. USA, hand-made - mostly from their local recycling (PA)
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

I think I would buy this stuff just to see it compost and put it in the oven! Who would have thought "disposable" would be good?
Is freezer and microwave-safe, and unbelievably, the claim it can go into a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes!
It also decomposes in a lake or river for 14 days, then which, the fibers can be eaten by the fish!! (decomposes in compost in 2 days and in the landfill in 90 days - how do they know this?)

Description
This is the next NEW GREAT thing in cookware. This is NOT teflon, that, as you know, is a probable carinogen and releases toxins at high temps (no need to throw out what you have, just don't use it on high and replace with more responsible cookware). If teflon can kill birds when used with high heat, then how could it be alright for our lungs???
This ceramic-based, non-stick cookware is better than other non-stick products, can be heated up to 850 degrees F (what??) in the oven or on the stove, and is scratch-resistant (I'd like to see that) and heats evenly.
Not only is it good for our indoor health, but the process of making it has 40-50% energy savings compared to teflon.
