I am often good at buying accessories, but not so good at finding good, timeless, flattering wardrobe basics. Sweaters are a cold weather wardrobe basic, but in order to make sure they aren't boring (as wardrobe basics can often be) I look for a interesting shape or line.

Thats why I love this ribbed babydoll sweater. Its a great cold weather item, can be dressed up or dressed down, comes in many colors and makes sure you have something pretty to wear any day of the week.

I love this hoodie. Its like the grown up version of the sailor dress every little girl seems to have.

From the Sailor Jerry brand, the official purveyors of merchandise in the style of tattoo artist Norman Collins, its my favorite kind of clothing. Functional and useful without being boring.

My only complaints, I wish is also came in the reverse colorway: white anchors on navy blue (white gets dirty too easily). The pricetage: $74 is a little steep for a hoodie. And there are only mediums and smalls left.

Get yours before they all sell out.

I try so hard to make sure I only buy grown-up clothing and accessories.

But sometimes the call for kitch is way too strong.

If anyone looked at my weblogs, they'd see visits to fredflare.com at least once a week. Also kidrobot, mimoco, and ningyoushi.

This is sooo cute, but for me it would only potentially get worn one time per week - on a weekend. So not such a good use for my limited fashion dollars.

However, if you are a young, fun heiress or you look like Katy Perry - this is a must buy for you.

Simply Vera Vera Wang Cloud Tee

The picture doesn't do this top much justice. its actually a little more colorful, blue and gray.

I don't often get to large department stores becuase I live in NYC, but I happened to be driving around the suburbs of New Jersey this weekend and decided to stop at a Kohl's.

I have often read about Vera Wang's Simply Vera collection, but this was the first time I have actually seen it in person.

I was impressed. Elegantly designed, well-executed quality pieces at an afforable price. All the details we considered, even the hang-tags were nice.

I bought this cloud tee because it was a tolerable execution of tie-dye (which I think will be big this season). And the hand of the fabric was very nice (i.e. the weight and feel of the fabric).

I bought some other pieces as well. TBR. To be recommended.

Warning to Kohl's, I will be back. That's a threat.
