Mad about roses - a list by hanahula

About this list:

My most memorable rose was not red, nor was it a gesture of romance. It was the cream rose, the Delta Gamma rose specifically, I received upon my initiation into my sorority as a symbol of lifelong sisterhood. Yes, I am a romantic. And I was well before I even understood what a sorority was. Perhaps we are having a collective moment of nostalgia or a greater sense of symbolism, but roses are busting out all over. Bring them on !

Qualifications:

You will rarely find me without my rose-colored glasses on.

Barnes and Noble: La Vie en Rose with Marion Cotillard

First to recommend

Description

I first heard Edith Piaf's voice during a dance performance at a Piccolo Spoleto Festival. Even a recording of her singing, several times removed from the woman herself, was a gut-wrenchingly beautiful experience. And, forgive me, I do not remember the name of the dancer, but she did do great justice to "The Sparrow" in her choreography. Fortunately, Marion Cotillard has since rendered Piaf immortal in this rose of a film.

Although it cannot truly shield you from heartbreak, this rose is indeed fashioned from bullet-proof material. Perfect if you are planning a date with danger; not so helpful if you are looking for love in all the wrong places. Pick your shield: black or brown.
