Welcome to Zhi Tea

Description

With so many studies showing the health benefits of tea, I've been trying to drink more of it and have had fun sampling different brands and brews. This one impressed me the most. Zhi, an Austin based company, sells interesting and amazingly flavorful teas which to me, are better tasting and have more of a natural sweetness than other teas. They also sell a harder to find and very healthful tea called "Pu-er" . My favorite is their "Sweet Desert Delight" which is an organic blend of Rooibos, cinnamon, cacao and coconut. It has no caffeine and doesn't need much sugar. Plus, it has about 50 times the anti-oxidants as other tea. (via Zhi Tea)

Smilebox Recipe Pages

First to recommend

Description

Digital scrapbooking is all the rage, but learning Photoshop Elements and collecting digital "scraps" takes a lot of time. Smilebox is a quick way to join the digital scrapping fun. It's easy to use and the design is warm and fuzzy in a non-annoyingly so way. Best of all, Smilebook has formats for recipe pages. So if you are a recipe junkie like I am, you can slap together cool looking recipe pages (complete with music!) and email them to your friends. Or, if you'd prefer not to email, Smilebox guides you through the process of putting your creation on your blog or social networking site and/or printing it so that you can save it in your own binder. Give it a try and keep the sound on because the music is kind of funny. (via Smilebox)

Martha Stewart Food Containers

First to recommend

Description

Package your goodies in style! Martha Stewart is now making cute gift boxes which you can assemble and fill. For $12.99, you get 6 fold-together boxes. Considering the price of other food containers (many of which aren't nearly so classy looking), this is a deal. The boxes aren't air tight, so the recipient will eventually have to transfer to goodies to a cookie jar or something, but they'll be so impressed with the appearance of your gift they won't mind. I found these at Michael's, but you may also buy them off the Martha Stewart craft site. (via Martha Stewart Crafts)

SquidSoap

Description

This soap is a great tool for helping kids learn proper handwashing. One squirt puts a red dot on your child's hand. When the dot is scrubbed away, hands are clean! Why didn't they think of this sooner?

I think this might also make a nice, smallish gift for cooks. After handling raw chicken, wouldn't it be nice to scrub away that red dot and just know you didn't still have tiny bits of salmonella on your hands? (via squidsoap.com)

T-FAL US - Ultimate EZ Clean

First to recommend

Description

This is the third deep fryer I've owned. It's not that I do so much frying I wear them out -- quite the contrary. The problem I had was hand cleaning the fryer and discarding loads of old oil at the end. I'm a believer in using oil only once, so throwing out a few quarts of oil after every fry wasn't practical. Luckily, I don't have to do this anymore because I now own a T-Fal EZ Clean with a 1 liter capacity. It lets you fry in small batches, filters itself into a handy tupperware holding bowl, should you choose to use your frying oil again, and best of all, it is dishwasher safe.....well, except for the power base and cord, but those don't touch oil anyay. If you are in the market for a deep fryer, check this one out. If you have a bigger family and feel you need a larger bowl, don't worry. T-Fall makes a 2 liter capacity fryer as well!

NordicWare

First to recommend

Description

Who doesn't like bundt cake? Along with being tasty (usually) and handsome (always) they're easy to transport. The Nordicware Bundt cover alows you to both display and transport your bundt cake in the style its accustomed to. I've had mine for about 3 years now and have used it quite a bit. In fact, I find that I make more bundt cakes simply because I have this nice way of presenting them. I highly recommend this if you are a baker or if you are shopping for a baker.

Krups Panini Press

2 people recommended this item

Description

A few years ago, I won a Williams Sonoma gift certificate. It was a pretty generous amount, so after I picked out a few things I really needed, I started choosing what I thought were more whimsical items. That’s how the Krups Panini Press wound up in my home. I suspected it would be yet another small appliance I’d buy, use once, then put away, but I was wrong. I love and use it so much that I keep it on the counter permanently.

The Krups panini maker makes picture perfect paninis. It has a high quality non-stick finish, takes about 5 minutes to heat up, and gets hot enough to cook a golden brown, melty, delicious panini in 3 minutes. It’s so much better than a skillet because it cooks both sides at once and of course, makes the nice ridges which are a key in a good panini.

The Krups panini maker has made me more creative with flavors. My favorite panini of late involves cilantro pesto, pepper jack cheese, baby spinach and Southwestern seasoned chicken on sourdough. It takes literally 8 minutes to assemble and cook.

Wine Essence Kit From Wine Enthusiast

Description

A few years ago, my husband gave me a wine essence kit for my birthday. Since then, we've had fun pulling it out, sniffing the containers, and trying to match the smells in each numbered, keyed vile to the aromas in our wine. Aside from being educational, the kit is a nice ice breaker for small, casual get-togethers. When friends come over, I let them play with the wine aroma kit while I finish cooking. Everyone finds it amusing -- wine novices and experts alike.
