On the Craft Faire Circuit - a list by Vorpaks

About this list:
In this list are a few of the vendors I have seen at local craft faires year-after-year... and drooled over year-after-year. Unfortunately crafters are not always website savvy. There are many artists I am dying to recommend... but they have no website! So this list is really a representation of the vendors I love... who have websites. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Dichrolux | Dichroic glass jewelry
First to recommend
Description
Susan Card is an incredible artist. I own a pair of blue stud earings by her and they are amazingly striking against an all-black outfit.
From her site:
"The medium I use in my work is called "Dichroic Glass", a fusible glass surface which has been vacuum coated with various metals such as titanium oxide, which allows the glass to both reflect and transmit colors when viewed from different angles." (via Dichrolux Glass Designs)

Chris Lann Designs: Contemporary handcrafted sterling silver jewelry
First to recommend
Description
Chris Lann works with my favorite type of jewelry: sterling silver. Moonstones, amber, carnelian and other semi-precious stones are worked into simple, organic, gorgeous designs. I don't own any of his pieces... yet. (via Chris Lann Designs)

Ripple Pottery

Description
Brian O'Hare designs just my kind of pottery -- simple, earthy, vibrant designs. The colors are deceptively basic, but then shift as you hold them to the light, revealing the depths of the glaze. Truly a pleasure to hold in your hand. The shapes are round and fluid. Nothing stark here, just warm, happy color.
He has for sale one of my guilty pleasure purchases -- mini pots. What do you do with these tiny little pots? Mine sit happily on window sills, shelves, and on top of the refridgerator collecting dust and the occasional violet or dewdrop. They are proof that some clutter can be fun and beautiful. Hand-Crafted Maine Jewelry--New England Twists--Earrings
First to recommend
Description
Custom designs by New England twists. This vendor always draws my eye -- the swirls and dips of her designs gleam with light. I have a pair of tigers eye earings in gold wire and even after 3 years of weekly wear they have not dulled or tarnished. By far one of my favorite sets.
They are not large earings, but they fascinate the eye. I would call them similar to celtic designs in that fashion, but these are completely their own style. Next on my wishlist is the hematite star set.
From her website:
"Although my designs are always delicate in appearance, they are actually very sturdy and durable. They are much stronger than ordinary wire designs because the wire links are flattened to help them keep their shape." (via New England Twists)

Shimmer Studios | Intention bracelet
First to recommend
Description
Another vendor whos material I can linger over endlessly. Shimmer Studios excels at highlighting each component of their pieces so that it stands out both in individual beaty and in the beauty of the whole piece. She works extensively with semi precious stones, sterling silver, and gold.
The piece I chose to show here is a customizable bracelet. From her website:
"Why set your intentions is stone when you can set them in silver? Any intention or name that will fit can be added. Strung on black leather cord to be knotted around a bead chosen to match your intention. Beads will vary." (via Shimmer Studios)

Fleece on Earth | Striped Wish Cap
First to recommend
Description
Fleece on Earth produced those terribly tempting products. Whenever someone asks in an awestruck voice "did you make that?" I always have to struggle not to say "Yes!"
Bonny Dutton and her team are amazing artists and every piece of their clothing radiants the joy, innocence, and love of being a child.
From their website:
"The philosophy behind Fleece on Earth has always been to accentuate the natural charm of children while allowing their unique personalities to shine through." (via Fleece On Earth)

Zwinkler, The Copper Garden Sprinkler, Showers and Fountains for Lawn and Garden Home
First to recommend
Description
These garden sprinklers are perfect for kids who like to run through a sprinkler on a hot summer day. Unlike normal sprinklers that you have to lug in and out of the shed, these can stay in place as lawn ornaments when the fun is over. I love the quote from their website:
"What happens when you mix art, copper, sunshine and water?"
Sounds like fun!
Note: They do not say it on their website but I assume that these, like most copper objects, acquire a green patina over time. This can be removed or left as part of the charm. (via Zwinkler)

WRITING WOOD - Red Sox Bench Pen
First to recommend
Description
This vendor makes high-quality pens encased in wood. Not being a pen aficionado myself I never spent much time lingering over her stock UNTIL -- the Red Sox bench pen! This pen is made from the bench the Red Sox used during games 3 & 4 of the 2004 World Series!!! HOW COOL IS THAT??
The artist also makes bottle stoppers (which I have purchased), and very nice pen and pencil sets that I covet. The artist also works on comission.
From the website:
"It is amazing how many times a year I make a pen out of the pruned branches of a favorite tree or a sentimental family tree. I have made all styles of pens from all types of Maple, Apple, Cherry, and even oak. I have the equipment to take a pruned branch and dry it so I can cut it down to make a pen or bottle stop. This drying process normaly takes a week or two. Below is one of six pens I made from the branches of an apple tree that a grandfather planted and harvested from in the mid 50's. These pens were given during the holidays as a very sentimental gift to family members." (via Writing Wood)

Victoria Tane - Jewelry Gallery

Description
Victoria Tane creates recycled art that is not at all, well, trashy. *grin* Her pieces are elegant and interesting. It is hard to recognize some of the materials she uses until you read the descriptions. Old telephone wire? Really?
Go to her site and check out the "Mardi Bra" she made, with a portion of the proceeds going to breast cancer research. She also does custom work, incorporating your old, sentimentally important pieces into something new and wonderful.
I am partial to her drift wood pieces, since they remind me of my childhood island home.
From her web site:
"An avid recycler, she is inspired to find new uses for old things not generally associated with jewelry. Her work features old chandelier crystals, pencil eraser caps, peach pits, driftwood, telephone wire, old buttons, machine parts, and even, rabies tags. She seamlessly integrates these objects into her jewelry to create elegant, affordable and wearable art." (via Vicotria Tane Studios)

Vermont Rock Candles
First to recommend
Description
Ian Smith makes these lovely rock candles, which could more appropriately be called oil lanterns. Mr. Smith hand picks the rocks from Vermont quarries so each one is unique. Perfect for any eco/natural decorator.
From his website:
"A Vermont Rock Candle is an oil lamp. There is a hole that goes right through the stone, and a wick that is threaded into a reservoir underneath. The oil that is placed in the reservoir of your rock candle "wicks" up until it is ignited. Simple... fun... but truly unique." (via Vermont Rock Candles)
