Marais AC Chair

First to recommend

Description

I've always loved metal chairs, but they can be too industrial looking or too "euro-design" in style. These old school French chairs in alternative colors are fabulous. The chair was introduced in 1934 as a utility chair for the service industry. When a design looks great no matter the era, that is good design. (Oooh, and these are on sale for $125, which I think is very reasonable, especially for Design Within Reach.)

FLOR Shirt Stripe - Stripe A Pose

First to recommend

Description

I have long hallways, and I've been the idiot looking for the right length rugs (impossible so far). Duh! Flor rugs are perfect for hallways! Sometimes...

I also love the fact it contains 45% recycled materials.

It's hard to realize you've had boring taste... Lately I've been slowly acclimating myself to more tribal'ish designs. It's not easy, but I think it's working. If I keep the boring part, it should balance out just fine.

Grove Media Cabinet

First to recommend

Description

This is a nice inspiration of a mid-century style cabinet. I like the fact they offer it in a nice Walnut color, which is not easy to find. The fact this company accomplished 70% American-made makes a difference to me, as well.

saarinen white coffee table

First to recommend

Description

This would look fabulous with my current living room situation... Everything is a bit low to the ground and a bit young looking. The fact it's a classic design let's me get away with the youthful style. I like the plastic versions the best. The low coffee table is also my favorite of all silhouettes.

Melrose Sofa with Chaise

First to recommend

Description

I love the fact this comes with the fancy chaise. It looks so impressive, though it does add to the price. Dark gray is also enticing, but potentially too modern. I already have a chair that matches this, so the decision is to be boring and match or try something new... Oh, decisions, decisions!

This 7' wide sofa is similar to an original I need to reupholster... The debate is: reupholster for more or buy new for less. Darn it. Hard decision.

Kinsey Sofa

First to recommend

Description

I like the 20th mid-century inspiration of this sofa. It is very long, but it still looks elegant. Another good alternative to the real thing, if you can't afford the real thing. This is amazing at only around $1,000.

Encore Sofa Bed

Description

I would buy the Eames version, but it's a couple grand more than this inspired version. Not bad for $900. I love the fact that pieces of it fold down and not the entire thing.
