Time Machines - a list by dwilliams

About this list:
Time is an artificial construct, a sort of consensual hallucination. I think that might be the basic reason we can be so obsessed with it. It's not real and yet we believe that it is and we allow it to govern, even control our lives. Our fascination with time takes shape in the myriad of time keeping devices available. This list contains timekeeping devices I would like to own or think are just pretty darn neat.
Hardcore Watch Company

Description
You know, for someone who doesn't even own a watch you have to wonder what's my fascination with timepieces. Especially expensive timepieces. Like these. Expense aside, these are like the Vegas version of wrist clocks. Full of flash and muchado about nada but flash for its own sake ain't a bad thing and these watches kick arse sideways (that means they are cool).

Time flies? Time wounds? Time HURTS! Man, do not leave this laying around where someone (or you) are going to sit on it. That would not be good. Nor pretty. Unless of course you are into that sort of thing. Hey, I am nobody to judge.

fun, funky, strange, mysterious, trendy, dangerous...at least one of these adjectives applies to every one of these time telling devices by odm. not as flashy and tokyo flash but that's not a problem. they possess their own odd appeal.

I don't wear a watch. Have not for years. My favorite watch was one I got from either McDonald's or Burger King. I can't remember who the cartoon character on it was but that damn thing worked perfectly for two years. Then I think I lost it. Now this is a watch I would wear. Sort of like wrist art with a decidedly steampunk-techno slant. Yeah I would wear this. If I could afford this. Why is the coolest stuff so expensive?

Ah SkyMall. My infrequent flights would be so much more boring without you. And sometimes I even find cool stuff I would actually buy. Like this 19th Century style illuminated clock (if 19th Century clocks were illuminated that is).

Description
Yuck, you got an infection! Now wear your disease with pride. Twenty-seven multi-colored LEDs pulsate and move like cells across the curved face to present the time from beneath the attractive mirrored mineral crystal lens. Totally sick!
