O: Damien Rice

6 people recommended this item

Description

I'd like to slap Damien Rice in the face for making an album that completely and utterly twists my soul. One of my favorite tracks describes this album to a T "Delicate". Other fav tracks: "Cold Water", "Cheers Darlin", "Blowers Daughter", "I Remember", "All Dressed Up", "Moody Monday". Sweet, tender, dark and ethereal. (via Amazon)

Ray LaMontagne: Trouble

First to recommend

Description

Like Damien Rice, this singer songwriter's music is hauntingly beautiful and will stomp on your heart. Great stuff. Just have a listen to: "Burn" and "All the Wild Horses". The more upbeat "Trouble" is one of my favorites as well. (via Amazon)

Danger Doom: The Mouse and the Mask

Description

A really great collaboration by MF Doom and Dangermouse, two talented underground hip hop artists. I've heard this album was inspired by Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's nighttime adult shows.

Dengue Fever: Escape from Dragon House

First to recommend

Description

When I first heard of Dengue Fever, I thought I had stumbled upon a rare gem. A 70's era Cambodian psychadelic rock band. Turns out they're contemporary. Yes, from today. From Los Angeles. Now before you say I'm trippin', listen to "One Thousand Tears Of A Tarantula". Its dope! (via Amazon)

DeVotchKa: How It Ends

First to recommend

Description

If you loved everything about Little Miss Sunshine, you'll love this album from the band that provided most of the soundtrack. The album predates the movie , but you'll find a majority of the songs that were used in the film:
"You Love Me"
"The Enemy Guns"
"How It Ends"
"We're Leaving"
and a few amazing songs not featured in the film:
"Too Tired"
"Charlotte Mittnacht"
"This Place is Haunted"
"Reprise"
I would best describe the band as neo-gypsy folk. (via Amazon)

Donny Hathaway is one of my favorite artists! His music is so spiritually moving and packs a sentimental punch. If you don't know him and you love Al Green and John Legend, definitely listen to Donny Hathaway.
Favorites:
"I Love the Lord"
"Someday We'll All Be Free"
"Flying Easy"
"I Believe in Music"
"Lord Help Me" (via Amazon)

Donovan: The Hurdy Gurdy Man

First to recommend

Description

I'm a sucker for folk music from the 60's and 70's. And the Fall is when I through away my Metrocard and hoof it all over the city. Crisp cool breezes, golden yellows, browns and folk music on my ipod. This is one of my favorite albums.
Fav Tracks:
"Hurdy Gurdy Man"
"Peregrine"
"As I Recall It"
"Get They Bearings"- AMAZING SONG!
"The River Song"
"A Sunny Day"
"Teas"
"West Indian Lady" (via Amazon)
