Mondaine Watches

Description

I hadn't worn a watch in years, but after discovering this watch on ThisNext, I had to break my own rule. I love the simple, clean, bold look. It reminds me of my favorite $15 black on white Timex that I owned decades ago, but this one adds an interesting red second hand and costs ten times as much. (via loft3)

DPMHI officine watch

2 people recommended this item

Description

Black, orange, automatic! This watch is a dream come true. I love the simple and refined chunky shape in black attached to the beautiful orange band. I happen to prefer automatic watches over the quartz variety because I admire the technical complexity of a watch that winds itself and doesn't need batteries. This one combines the heft and complexity of some of the big (expensive) boys and combines it with much needed fun factor.

Very cool!

MUJI Automatic Watches

First to recommend

Description

Once glance at the face and you find yourself thinking 'if MUJI made a watches, this is excactly what they would look like.'

The square face is a bit unconventional but executed in a fantastic way. The numbers are arranged as if they were on a round faced clock. This is the only visibly 'soft' aspect of this design. The rectangular frame and the band is clean and free of any embellishment.

The round face designs come in black and white with your choice of black or brown band.

Like Mondaine watches, the round series is based on the design of Japanese public clocks. This explains the minimal design and suberb visibility.

Best of all, both designs are Automatic (self-winding, not quartz). For any serious time piece enthusiast, this is the only 'real' kind of watch.

Timeless Wall Clock

First to recommend

Description

I have recommended my share of clocks, many of them fabulous and priced accordingly. This time, I give you a great clock that wont break the bank, not even close.

The Timeless Wall Clock has the look for the right price. Its also not made of painted plastic - real seamless aluminum.

Description

A product of the Bauhaus generation, these fantastic works of absurdly hard to achieve simplicity and style are awe inspiring. Clean, friendly and precise. A kind of great design that is hard, if not impossible to copy without looking like a fraud.

Time Square Numeri Soft Clock

First to recommend

Description

For a more in-your-face impact pick this clock designed by Dario Serio. Square and covered with scattered helvetica-like type that almost overshadow the hands, this clock is serious in its playful approach to timeliness. If the type and shape doesnt grab attention, the bold color will.

Station Double Sided Wall Clock

Description

I live by the train station inspired watch on my hand anyway, might as well put some of that spirit on my wall.

CB2 gives us the Station Double Sided Wall clock! Each side of the big clock tells the time in stark black and white contrast. The body is made of satin gunmetal-finish steel.

This is a great addition to a long corridor, a large space or any loft environment. Im saving this idea for my up an coming attic studio.

$79.95. Requires only 1 AA battery
