About this list:
I went to fashion design school, so I know a thing or two about fashion illustration. In 2008 I am going to get back into drawing because over the years of being a slave to the internet I forgot how much I enjoy drawing.
Qualifications:
Ex fashion design student who was one hell of an illustrator

Winsor & Newton Designer's Gouache
First to recommend
Description
Back in art school gouache was a staple in my everyday life and Winsor & Newton were my favorite. I am thinking in 2008 I will start drawing and painting fashion illustrations again (maybe it will keep me out of the boutiques). I am going to pick up this set to get me started.

9 Heads: A Guide to Drawing Fashion

Description
Once upon a time Fashion Kitty went to fashion school to become a fashion designer. I may not be a designer but I do still enjoy fashion illustration when I have the time.
This book is the only fashion illustration book I didn't get rid of Amazon.com. I still use it to this day. It is the next best thing to having an art teacher walk you through everything and the book is amazing looking. So worth the money, you will keep it forever.

Pentel Techniclick III Pencil
First to recommend
Description
A good mechanical is a must have for fashion illustration, a regular pencil simply won't do. The fine point of the pencil is really useful for drawing details like stitches, zippers, and hair. Make sure to stock up on refills so you won't have to waste money on new pencils.

I love Le Book! I was so happy to see someone recommended this on ThisNext because I love the site but forgot what it was called. I can't think of anything to say about this except that it is fabulous and you should check it out.

Description
I have used a lot of erasers in my day but this one by far is my favorite. My Dad used to buy them in bulk (why I don't know) so I always had some on hand. Out of all of the fancy eraser I encountered in design school I always reverted back to this one from Staples.

Prismacolor Four-In-One Markers

Description
Before I went to gouache I was a marker kind of girl. I would often go back to markers from time to time and now may be one of those times. Prismacolors are the best markers, they colors are vibrant and they are very inky. Each marker has a wide tip at one end and a thin tip on the other. These markers aren't cheap so make sure you put the cap on them or else you are just throwing money down the toilet. There are about a zillion shades of these bad boys too. I recommend buying a starter kit like this and adding on single markers as you need them.

C-THRU 8ths Graph Beveled Transparent Rulers
First to recommend
Description
This is one item that I could not live without in design school. I must have bought 50 of them but it's not because they suck it's because I suck. I would often use these as a straight edge while I cut paper with my exacto knife, one slip of the wrist and you can ruin a perfectly good ruler. Anyone who is a fashion illustrator or wants to get into it you must get yourself one of these. They are perfect for technical drawings when it comes to drawing in stitches and other tedious details.

ARTOGRAPH Light Tracer II Light Box
First to recommend
Description
Another item that I could not live without and neither could my fellow students who often paid e in Ramen for a whirl on my light box (whoa that sounded dirty). It is best to do you drawings in a sketch book so you can erase and all that good stuff. After you have completed your work of art it's nice to transfer it to a thicker nicer sheet of paper ... the only way to do that is with a light box. It makes tracing a breeze and isn't too terribly expensive.
