Sharyn Sowell :: Handcut Silhouette Artist :: Contemporary Icons Gallery

First to recommend

Description

Even more so than flowers, silhouette images epitomize romance, timelessness and femininity to me. This artist, Sharyn Sowell, shapes her designs the traditional way: using paper and scissors. Soon, you may be able to find her work in your neighborhood Hallmark store. Until then, after viewing some of the work she displays on her website, you just may be tempted to try making your own Valentine's Day silhouette. (via Victoria)

Description

These take me back. Not quite to the 50's, but I seem to remember similar styles in the early 70's. Why are all the modern cards tied in to commercial TV/movie/game characters?

Warning: These cards were a lot smaller than I expected, so pay attention to the sizes when ordering.

vintage playing cards

Description

I am literally drooling over these collections of vintage cards. Although they are advertised as trading cards, I would really love to use them for a variety of art projects. To decorate plain notebooks, use them for scrapbook projects, alter them for interesting greeting cards. My head is spinning ! (via Etsy)
