I was a huge fan of DGeneration, the band that Jesse Malin fronted in the 90's (part glam, part punk, all cool). He's turned into an amazing singer songwriter (not as heavy stuff as DGeneration here, but cool nonetheless). This CD is getting a lot of time in my CD player these days. My fav. track right now is In the Modern World (it was also a past "Coolest Song of the Week" a few weeks ago on my fav. radio station, the Underground Garage on Sirius). I really like this song, because to me it is mocking all those hipsters who take themselves way too seriously. Jesse's buddy Ryan Adams guests on this CD.

This movie sucks, however Richard Hell is sexy as fuck and stylish as hell in it! That fact along with the live performances, are what I love about this movie. Worth it to own for those reasons alone.

AEDES DE VENUSTAS - your complete online source for exclusive fragrances
First to recommend
Description
Aedes is the legendary store in NYC for all your high end fragrance and skin care needs (on Christopher Street). In these days of everything being online, let's face it, catalogs seem to be very 1997 and I'm really not excited to get them anymore. However the Aedes catalog is an extreme exception. The Aedes catalog continues to make me squeal like a little girl with delight when I get it. I've also been lucky enough to go to their store. If you live in NYC you know what I'm talking about. If you go to NYC, if you are in any way, shape or form into high end fragrance or skin care, this is a must visit. Indulge in a visit to Aedes (either in person, online or via catalog) and be ready to be delighted!

Description
Next time I go to NYC, this will be one of my first stops! For those of you who have never heard of Manitoba's let me tell you why you should go. First of all it is owned by the fantabulous Handsome Dick Manatoba. Who is this Handsome Dick you speak of you ask? Let me school those of you who are not in the know. Handsome Dick is the singer for the iconic NYC band the Dictators, as well as DJ extraordinarie on my only reason for listening to radio, the Underground Garage on Sirius Satellite Radio. Manitobas is also supposed to have a kickin' jukebox! What else do you need to know? In the words of Handsome Dick, "oh, forgetaboutit"!

Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk by Legs McNeil
First to recommend
Description
One of my fav. music books of all time. I LOVE the NYC music scene of the 70's...think Richard Hell (oh how I love you), the Ramones, Blondie, Patti Smith, etc. Legs McNeil was one of the founders of Punk Magazine. This books is interview style, which I love. I periodically re-read this fantastic book. If you have a love of the 70's NYC "punk" scene or want to learn more about it, this is the book for you.

THE STAR SPANGLES: Dirty Bomb
First to recommend
Description
I love this NYC band. Their first CD Bazooka, is awesome! Dirty Bomb is their latest CD. I usually like to write all my reviews myself here, but what they write on the CD Baby website (one of my fav. places to buy CD's from), sums these guys up the best:
"Look, we know this is just hype but it's fair to say if you like the Ramones, The Stones, Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers, Cheap Trick, the Replacements, Slade, Chuck Berry, powerpop, punk, rock&roll, beer and sex, chances are you'll like this. Honest."
So order already! You can thank me later!

Bigelow Chemists

Description
One of my fondest memories of my last trip to NYC was finally getting to go to Bigelow's live and in person. I bought T. Leclerc lip gloss and a Mason Pearson hairbrush. Sure, you can order from their website, but if you are in NYC or planning a trip, make sure to pop into this NYC institution. They were extremely friendly and helpful in the store too!
