About this list:
Here I present to you, in no particular order or ranking, a list of songs and/or albums that I love. I have no real genre preference, although you may notice that there is more of one particular type of music represented here than another. That's purely accidental. I love music that moves me: that makes me laugh, sing, cry, dance, reminisce, dream or think. And I'm always in search of more music to accompany on this wild and crazy ride we call life . . .

Love Actually - Various Artists - Soundtrack

Description
I know it's wrapped up like a holiday present, and this soundtrack does have just a few holiday tunes . . . but it has an amazing amount of really good music packed into a single album. From the haunting sounds of "Dido" to a Beach Boys classic, this album delivers a whole spectrum of fabulous sound.

Description
The voice that got me through all of the ups and downs of my life throughout this very same period of time (1991- 2004). A strong but gentle man, a voice worthy of worship. Soulful. Sensuous. Seal.

Rascal Flatts - Still Feels Good
First to recommend
Description
This album is quite a departure for me . . . country music isn't generally on the top of my personal playlist. But Rascal Flatts really gets under my skin . . . in all the best ways. It is romantic and soulful and heartfelt. I like that in a band.

Description
I didn't hear this album until several years after it was first released, but I was amazed by how well Robert Plant's voice had stood the test of time. It was, and is, simply hypnotic. And this album remains my favorite of all the ones he has produced as a solo artist.

Steve Winwood - Back in the High Life
First to recommend
Description
I had just broken up with my first BIG LOVE when I first heard "Back in the High Life." It made me cry, not for the loss of the love, so much as for the realization that I was still whole. A little battered and bruised, yes, but I was still there. And, listening to the title song, I knew that I would love again.

iTunes Store - U2 - The Joshua Tree (Remastered)
First to recommend
Description
This album has accompanied me on some of my most difficult journeys, yet my heart still leaps every time I listen to it. "One Tree Hill" picks me up when I am running. "Mothers of the Disappeared" turns my thoughts outward to the rest of the world. "With or Without You" is incredibly melancholy, but still one of my favorite love songs. U2 has continued to grow and evolve musically, but this album will always be my sweet spot.

iTunes Store: Catch and Release (Music from the Motion Picture)

Description
If you didn't see the movie, that's okay. It's a chick flick and it may not be your style. But the soundtrack is really good listening, with some edgy tracks, mellow ballads, and soul-searching melodies. Good stuff.

Madonna - Ray of Light
First to recommend
Description
I have loved Madonna from the time I saw her video for "Borderline" right up until this very moment. She has been such a prolific artist with so many albums, so many concerts, so many critics. But, hands down, my favorite album is "Ray of Light". I love each song, but I also love the album as a cohesive whole. Her voice has a transcendent quality to it here that lifts me up above whatever muck I happened to be mired in . . . it is light personified.
