About this list:

Here I present to you, in no particular order or ranking, a list of songs and/or albums that I love. I have no real genre preference, although you may notice that there is more of one particular type of music represented here than another. That's purely accidental. I love music that moves me: that makes me laugh, sing, cry, dance, reminisce, dream or think. And I'm always in search of more music to accompany on this wild and crazy ride we call life . . .

Steve Miller Band - Greatest Hits: 1974-1978

First to recommend

Description

Here's what happened: the UFO magazines got me thinking about the seventies, which made me wax nostalgic about some of the very first records I purchased, which reminded me of my favorite Steve Miller song: "Jungle Love". Now that I think about the fact that spring break is approaching and what a party this album is all on its own, I am not so appalled by the randomness of my thought processes. I humbly recommend this album. (via iTunes)

A website which aims to teach us about the use and meaning of color through the medium of sound. Appropriate and entertaining for all ages. Could be a cool meditation tool, too.

iTunes Store: The New England Football Band - Go Patriots!

First to recommend

Description

Well, who knew the Patriots put together an album. Sadly, the Giants didn't. I think this may be one of a handful of consolation prizes for coming in second at Superbowl XLII. And 15 minutes into the 2008-2009 season, the Patriots are wondering if curses are contagious. Let's hope not.

iTunes Store: Elvis Costello - The Best of Elvis Costello

First to recommend

Description

Not your typical rock star, Elvis Costello looks like a geeky version of Buddy Holly or teen idol from the 50's unexpectedly plopped into the middle of the punk rock era. But I actually have grown to love both his voice and his style, the beginnings of which are well represented on this album.

iTunes Store: Lenny Kravitz - Greatest Hits

Description

I remember when Lenny first arrived on the music scene many critics compared him to Jimi Hendrix, but, thankfully, he became a force and a voice entirely of his own making. Having seen him in concert, I am also impressed by what an incredible entertainer he is . . . and by the fact that his drummer is an equally dynamic she. I have no favorites on this album . . . I love every song !

iTunes Store: Lenny Kravitz - Baptism

First to recommend

Description

Although Lenny always seems to sing with his heart wide open, this album really seems to cut him to the core. Sort of a reflection of fame and success and all that it is not, Lenny manages to get some powerful messages across without preaching. This album is pure emotion, raw and uncut.
