Baby Essentials - a list by thenewstayathomemom

About this list:

When I started registering for my first baby, I didn't know what was REALLY necessary, and what wasn't. Well, after having been through it, you start to learn. For instance, you don't need a million burp-clothes. Heck, if you're like me, it gets to the point that whatever is closest to you does the trick - even if it happens to be your own clothing!

Qualifications:

I survived my first time, you will too!!! Enjoy it!!

Generation Orange - Spa Baby European Style Tub

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

Okay, so it looks like a bucket - but it actually works. You can sit your baby upright, and he or she will be secure from every direction while taking a bath (somewhat like being in the womb). Plus baby will stay warm because he or she is almost completely submerged in water. The instructions say you can use this tub from birth until they grow into an adult tub.

Description

I loved having my little girl close for as long as she would allow it!! This is so much more stylish than the wrap I had. I would have felt slightly more glamorous walking around in this baby wrap. I would definitely get this if I have another baby!!

Philips Avent 3 Pack 9oz Bottles: Baby

First to recommend

Description

I love Avent bottles. I don't need the crooked necks, or funny shaped bottles. Avent is practical and does the trick. Can also be used with breast milk storage bags.

Bear View Infant Mirror from See Me Smile

First to recommend

Description

This is a must for so that you can see what's going on with your child in their car seat while you're driving (especially when they have to be rear-facing, and they can't talk yet). If for nothing else, it helps ease your mind that everything is okay and they didn't somehow slip out of their car seat!

Kuster JellyBaby Changing Mat

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

This changing mat is made of memory foam, which also makes it really easy to wipe off. It's more expensive than the regular ones, but would last longer. I ended up having to purchase a new changing pad after about a year, because the plastic ended up ripping (putting me at spending about the same amount as one of these JellyBaby Changing mats).

bebePod Plus

Description

When my daughter was little I went with the "bumbo" chair, but she didn't like it when she was small. For some reason she always ended up leaning forward and spitting up. However, I know a lot of parents swear by these baby seats. I like this one better because it also has a removable tray for snacks and activities.

One Step Ahead Baby - Jumbo Baby Cubes

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

This is a great little set of freezable baby cube molds for when you first start giving your baby solids. I would puree fruits and vegetables in the blender, and then freeze them. Then you can sit one or two of the cubes out so they de-thaw naturally and you don't have to worry about getting the temperature right in the microwave.

Hyland's Homeopathic Teething Tablets

Description

You just hold one tablet against the painful area and let it dissolve, and then it will relieve the pain. Plus, the tablets are made from all-natural ingredients.

Mute Button Pacifier

3 people recommended this item

Description

Haha... Great gift for the parents to be. They might say they're not going to use a pacifier... But I doubt they'll trhow away your gift.... I'm sure they'll put it in a special place "just in case" they need it! This baby essential could really be a pacifier of any kind... The message - well, that's just pretty much what it is!
