Description

Sure we all love a digital rendering but there is something about a hand rendering that has that extra character and some people can really pull it off. I love Prismacolor pencils and pens combo I feel it creates a great photo real image. Here is one of my own renderings done with Prismacolor pencils and markers on vellum.(This is of the Getty Center in LA by architect Richard Meier)

Autodesk - AutoCAD Revit Architecture Suite

First to recommend

Description

When I was in Design school we had to learn all kinds of programs to prepare us for all the different ones people are using. So this product is great. "AutoCAD® Revit® Architecture Suite software turns maximum flexibility into competitive advantage. Combining AutoCAD®, AutoCAD® Architecture, and Revit® Architecture software into a single, comprehensive package allows you to transition to building information modeling (BIM) at your own pace, while protecting your software, training, and design data investments." Revit is the way to go every architecture firm is moving towards using it because of it's rendering capabilities alone. And who doesn't want a software that updates all your drawings when you make one change versus having to change it on every single sheet in your set! LOVE IT

Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium

First to recommend

Description

Every Creative person should invest in the creative suite. If you are a student try purchasing it at your Campus bookstore...you'll save yourself a bundle. As an Interior Design student I purchased the CS version of creative suite and it has come in handy along the way. Photoshop will always be a nifty little tool whether you are a designer or a simple do it yourselfer/photo lover. InDesign is a great layout program for multi-page documents and marketing materials. Illustrator is the best with text and graphics and Dreamweaver is an excellent web software. There is more....check it out! :)

How COOL is this?! Gone are the days of redmark sets. For all of us engineers and architects here is the latest and greatest. We can save on all that paper and red mark and email sets without having to print until the final set. How awesome? I can't even tell you how cool I think this is.....

Architectural 12in Scale-Blue - Architects Scales - Architectural & Engineering Scales at Utrecht

First to recommend

Description

The best architect's scale. Not only is it bright and pretty you can spot it if you walk away from your station and misplace it. It's aluminum so it doubles as a weapon and the numbers and tick marks don't disappear over time like the white plastic ones.
