Today, my friend was wearing a Turnbull & Asser shirt with a herringbone pattern so fine that its color changes depending on your viewing angle. And the report is that it's reasonably priced -- for a custom-tailored dress shirt.

According to their web site, they have a store on Brighton Way in Beverly Hills.

I saw somebody wearing this shirt at Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade last weekend. I walked past the guy on his left (thus missing the big number on the right sleeve) and thought it was a clever statement about brands and conspicuous consumption. But apparently Ralph Lauren himself is selling them and expecting us to take them seriously.
