World's Smallest Cards and Letters Sent via Real Mail!

Description

Oh wow, I really, really love this! Maybe it's because my daughters have always been mad about fairies, thus making "tiny little things" high on the favorites list. Or maybe it's because I would have absolutely LOVED to receive something so unusual in the mail when I was growing up... Whatever the case, check out the amazing things you can send courtesy of Leafcutter Designs. I'm thinking a letter from an elf is in our future at my house...

from the site:
World's Smallest Postal Service

The World's Smallest Postal Service is a teeny tiny letter transcription service. It sets up shop in cafes and stores, and is now available online. Here's how it works: You write a letter (up to 6 sentences - see below) and I rewrite it onto tiny stationary (1 x 1.5 inches) with my microscopic ink pen. It then goes into a tiny envelope which gets addressed, stamped, and sealed with a tiny wax seal with your initial on it. The letter then goes into a see-through folded coin case and is packaged up with a magnifying glass in a larger glassine envelope, finished off with a large "World's Smallest Letter" wax seal. I can send your letter directly to a recipient of your choice, or to you if you would like to distribute it yourself. (PS: The more letters you buy, the less expensive each additional letter is because the shipping charge remains the same for the whole batch.) (via Cool Hunting)

Sea-Scope

Description

Ooh... I wonder if you could spot a mermaid....

From HearthSong: "Our product testers LOVED Sea-Scope" - it opened up wonderful new worlds for them to explore. Not only could they solve the big mystery of what lies beneath the surface of the water, they could magnify spiders from a safe distance of 4-5 feet and faraway objects like birds with equal clarity.

And that's not all - a temperature strip and ruler helped document discoveries made by scientific observation, and the attachable underwater Aqua LightTM flashlight improved visibility when the water was murky. Aqua Light takes two AA batteries (not included).

Totally engrossing for budding scientists ages 6 and up."

Star Navigator

Description

This is just plain cool, in my opinion. And given the number of conversations we've had with the kids about stars when we're out and about it's useful too.

Having a summer backyard bash? Leave this out and when night falls, you have something that will deliver a lot of entertainment and interest.

A great dad gift, a great kid gift... heck, a great ME gift!

Scallywag Sloop Tree House

Wow, Sam's Club is not just for 240-count boxes of Tampax and cheap tires anymore. For about a fifth of what the GOP has spent (so far) on Sarah Palin's wardrobe, you can take home this quite excellent shipwreck-themed playhouse. I wonder if you can see Russia from it.....

Regardless, if I ever find myself needing beach shelter, this would definitely be on my "Oh yes, please!" list. Simply because the notion of spending over 25K to buy something made to look like scraps and debris is entertaining. It's like a trailer park house for pirates. Love it.
