About this list:

Concerts and music production are major energy consumers unfortunately. The following artists are aware of their eco footprint and are taking steps to reduce them whether it be via recycled paper, download only, solar powered recording studios, buying carbon offsets, and more.

Description

This group is full of adorable music and love doing what they can for they environment - they turned their driveway into a garden, have toured on bikes, and even printed this new cd (complete with pop-up art) on 100% recycled power.

Jack Johnson: Sleep Through The Static

3 people recommended this item

Description

Jack Johnson is one of my favorite artists - mellow, melodic, and perfect for pretty much anything. He also recorded this entire cd in a solar-powered studio. Additionally, his upcoming North American tour is one of the most eco-friendly in history - complete with organic clothing, recycled paper posters, biodiesel fuel, and environmental education. There are just so many reasons to love this eco-singer!

In Rainbows ~ Radiohead

Description

Loving this cd. It's so pleasant to listen to. I can't quite put my finger on what I love about it because there's so much to love and so much variety.

Also, while on tour they are not allowing any plastic, running their fleet on bio-diesel, and not allowing air travel. That's a green band if any.

Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends: Coldplay: Music

11 people recommended this item

Description

Great cd. Classic Coldplay sound and new innovations as well. I love the title, artwork, costume-ing behind it all as well.

Also, for a long time now, Coldplay offsets some of carbon output by planting mango trees in impoverished areas.

Bumbershoot: Seattle's Music & Arts Festival

First to recommend

Description

This festival has a terrific lineup (STP!, Death Cab for Cutie, Beck, T.I. and more) and is eco-friendly. How? They encourage recycling, organic cotton merchandise, and even have an eco-friendly art show. If only I live in Seattle, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I want to go to this festival SO BADLY!!!!! I love every single headliner (Radiohead, Jack Johnson, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, and more...) and there's a ton of bands in addition to the headliners that I love as well. In addition, the festival has an eco-village! That's pretty awesome - to be able to pull of a festival of this size and be green about it. Go SF (it is a terrifically green city after all)

Crash: Dave Matthews Band

Description

This cd features one of my many favorite DMB songs. I've never had the chance to see them live but I think I need to make that a goal before I die.

While on tour, they run on biodiesel, offset their carbon output, have an eco-village, have carpooling options, and even an eco-footprint reduction contes for fans. It doesn't get greener than that..or does it? Guess we'll see on their next tour :)

VIRGIN MOBILE FESTIVAL 2008

Description

Why is this festival awesome? Have you looked at the line-up? It could not be more diverse, and pleasing: Jack Johnson, Bob Dylan, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, STP, NIN, the list goes on.

In addition, the festival features composting, local food, sustainably made props, and more. I wish I could go to all these cities having these awesome festivals. Le sigh.
