Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy

Description
I love Will Ferrell. LOVE. And I know it's not super cultured, or refined, but Anchorman is one of my favorite comedies ever. It got panned, but this movie makes me laugh ever. single. time. Christina Applegate is a great straight-woman, and as always Steve Carell is side-splitting hysterical. Hats off to two classic comedic actors Will Ferrell and Steve Carell for going outside their comfort zone and getting nominated for Golden Globes this year.

Somewhat surprisingly, it's actually a great film. Not that Will Farrell isn't great, I just wasn't expecting it. However, it turned out to be quite the charming story and solid proof of Farrell's range.

Description
It's not the 'meatiest' of films, but The Devil Wears Prada is a fun piece of eye-candy. I did love the book, and I wish the movie was a bit more ruthless, but nevertheless Anne Hathaway was just gorgeous to watch, and all of the characters were quirky and loveable. Emily Blunt is up for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes this year. Comparably, I don't think she outshines her other opponents, but she certainly deserves some serious cred...she was hilarious and viscious. This is fun film to rent - even the guys will probably like it.

I always love over-the-top satire, and comedies that make you think are so rare these days. This movie is easy on the eyes, immensely entertaining, and yes, thought provoking.

Description
This movie is so dear. It's brutally funny, bitter, sad, and poignany all at the same time. Alan Arkin's performance as the grandfather was fabulous. Steve Carell was understated and hilarious - Toni Colette is always brilliant, Greg Kinnear was hear-breaking and the kids...Abigail Breslin (what a star!!) and the son Paul Dano were a refreshing revival of truly talented young actors. A great great movie.
