Orbee-Tuff RecycleBALL Dog Toy

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Now even your pup can go green! A safe, non-toxic ball for hours of fetching fun made of 100% recycled plastic. (Added plus: somehow our neighbor's dog manages to destroy EVERY toy we get, so if and when I have to throw this away, at least I'll feel a little bit better that it was recycled to begin with.)

"Plastic Bags Blow" Dual Handled Hemp Tote

First to recommend

Description

OK, first and foremost, I love the slogan! "Plastic Bags Blow"- what more need be said? But additionally, this bag has BOTH long and short handles (so you can carry it how you want), is printed with low-impact dyes, and is made of hemp (which is four times stronger than cotton). You will definitely send a message when you shop with this bag!

Countertop Plastic Bag Dryer

First to recommend

Description

OK, it's so simple it's almost stupid. How many times have you thrown away a perfectly good plastic bag, because it needed to be washed, and making sure they completely dry can be a hassle? I know I used to do that all the time. I would sometimes hand my bags over utensils, but they would fall off, get wet again, or just be in the way, so I ended up throwing them out. The truth is, this really isn't going to save you much money.... chances are you'll be washing a lot of the plastic bags you got at the grocery store for free (although if you wash and dry gallon-size ziplock bags, that could be a money-saver), but you will feel better knowing you are keeping that non-biodegradable plastic out of our landfills.

Maggie's Soap Nuts Natural Laundry Soap

First to recommend

Description

This is so wild!! Ever wonder how people washed their clothes thousands of years ago? In India, for over 2,500 years, they have used the dried fruit of the Chinese soapberry tree, which contains natural saponins (detergent). It is so gentle it can even be used as a toothpaste. And when you're done with the berries, you can add them to the compost pile.

So why is this detergent so cool? We now know that many synthetic chemicals in detergents and cleaners are harmful irritants, at best, and toxic carcinogens at worst. Many people are starting to search for natural alternatives that aren't so risky, and that don't contaminate our bodies and our planet. It turns out there are people the world over who have known about the soapberry for not just hundreds, but thousands of years! If that isn't a testament to it's effectiveness, I don't know what is! And the soapberry is also supposed to have healing medicinal properties, according to Ayurvedic belief.

I was skeptical, yes, and so I just had to try this product. It worked fantastically! Cleaned my clothes with no strong scents, and left them so soft (apparently it's a natural fabric softener, too). Maggie's Pure Land says that this detergent is great for babies, people with sensitivities and/or allergies, and anyone looking for a natural alternative to harsh detergents.

There is a sample size you can try out without breaking the bank. So how do you use it? The soap nuts come with a cotton sack. You put a few of the "nuts" in the cotton sack, add it to your washing machine, and voila! you will have super clean clothes. Because the soap nuts do not sud much, they can effectively be use din high efficiency machines, too!
